In the upcoming second season of Diablo IV, players will engage in intense combat against savage enemies by harnessing the dark and powerful abilities of vampires.
Unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, Diablo IV Season 2, known as Season of Blood, will bring exciting additions to the game. Players can look forward to a vampire-themed seasonal questline, as well as five new challenging endgame bosses. Moreover, there will be numerous vampiric powers for players to explore and incorporate into their character builds. The exact number of new powers and whether they will be specific to certain classes or universally available across all five classes is currently undisclosed.
In the upcoming second season of the game, players will have the opportunity to join forces with Erys, a vampire hunter character voiced by actress Gemma Chan. This marks Chan's debut in the video game industry. Together, players and Erys will embark on a mission to defeat a formidable vampire lord. The second season will commence on October 17th and, similar to the first season, will also include a new seasonal battle pass.
Blizzard recently shared more information about Season 2 through a tweet. They revealed that this season will bring new methods for players to specifically search for unique and "uber" unique items. Additionally, all the renown rewards earned in previous seasons or on the game's non-seasonal realm will carry over to Season of Blood. This means that once a player unlocks all the renown rewards on one character, they will automatically be available for all future characters, eliminating the need to repeatedly earn regional renown rewards each season.
Blizzard has recently confirmed that additional changes they had previously mentioned will be implemented in Season 2. One of these changes is that gems will no longer occupy inventory space. In addition, a filter and search option will be introduced for stashes, making it easier for players to organize their items. Various game systems such as Resistances, Vulnerable damage, and Overpower damage will also receive updates. Although not explicitly stated, it is likely that players can expect the release of new unique items and balance changes to coincide with the launch of Season of Blood.
The Diablo series has previously explored the concept of blood-drinking vampires. Recently, Blizzard released Diablo Immortal, a free-to-play mobile game, which introduced the Blood Knight as a new class. This is the first new class in the franchise in almost ten years and revolves around the concept of harnessing vampiric abilities.
