Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who will play Kraven the Hunter, has openly confessed that he "wasn't particularly interested" in some of his previous experiences in comic book movies.
During a conversation with Esquire, the actor from Marvel movies expressed his lack of enthusiasm for certain roles he had in the past, such as Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age of Ultron. He mentioned that despite the success of movies like Kick-Ass, Godzilla, and Avengers, he personally didn't have much fondness for them.
Taylor-Johnson gained recognition for his portrayal of Pietro Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver, in the film Age of Ultron. He also secured the lead role in the unconventional comic book adaptation, Kick-Ass. In addition to these notable roles, he was considered for undisclosed parts in major franchises. However, he made the decision to prioritize spending quality time with his spouse and children.
"I had a strong desire to be with my children," he expressed. "I didn't want to be separated from them. I struggled with the idea of what that situation would be like. I must admit, I wasn't fully prepared to be in that position at that time. However, I also had a bit of an indifferent attitude."
Without a doubt, there has been a shift in his perspective, and he has taken on a new role as the main character in Sony's upcoming film Kraven the Hunter, which is part of the Spider-Verse franchise. The renowned Marvel antagonist will be portrayed by him in this movie. "To be honest, I never expected to be involved in this type of film again," he admitted.
The upcoming film "Kraven the Hunter" features actors Russell Crowe and Ariana Debose. This movie is part of Sony's Spider-Man franchise, which has recently explored characters like Venom, Venom 2, and Morbius, expanding the universe beyond the iconic web-slinger.
"You can't approach this position or embrace the essence of this series with a lackadaisical and indifferent attitude. You need to be mentally prepared for the potential challenges that may arise. Personally, I feel confident and content in my current life situation, knowing that I am willing to handle whatever may come with it."
The movie featuring Kraven the Hunter will make its debut in theaters on August 30, 2024.
