Sega made an announcement at Gamescom's Opening Night Live event that Sonic Frontiers will receive its final update called The Final Horizon. This update will be released on September 28 and it will bring a new storyline, additional playable characters, and fresh challenges. The Final Horizon update will be available for free.

In the reveal trailer, we see the main characters of the game emerging from a mist. However, it seems that Amy, Tails, and Knuckles have become trapped in a digital world known as Cyber Space once again. As the trailer progresses, the group encounters a massive creature called a Titan. Just before the trailer concludes, Sonic harnesses the power of the Chaos Emeralds to transform into Super Sonic and engage in a battle with the Titan.

The Final Horizon is one of the latest updates for Sonic Frontiers, joining a series of other updates that Sega has released. One of these updates was called Sights, Sounds, and Speed, which added new challenge modes, a photo mode, and a Jukebox that played music from the game. Another update called Sonic's Birthday Bash allowed players to customize the looks of Sonic, his friends, Kocos, and even the island.
