This guide explains how <code>server.worldsize<\/code> and <code>server.seed<\/code> work, what size to pick for your player count, how to find good seeds, and how to change them.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What map size is<\/h2>\n<p>Map size is set with <code>server.worldsize<\/code> and is roughly the width of the map in metres. It&#8217;s configurable from about <strong>1000 to 6000<\/strong>, with most community servers running between <strong>3500 and 4500<\/strong>. Bigger maps generate <strong>more monuments and more building space<\/strong>, but they also demand significantly more from your server&#8217;s CPU and RAM \u2014 and a sparse map feels dead, while a packed one feels chaotic.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Picking a size for your population<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Small (3000\u20133500)<\/strong> \u2014 high-action servers; players constantly run into each other, lots of PvP, fewer dead zones.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Medium (3500\u20134500)<\/strong> \u2014 the sweet spot for most servers; enough monuments and space without big empty areas.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Large (5000\u20136000)<\/strong> \u2014 big communities, roleplay and PvE; needs strong hardware to stay smooth and enough players to fill it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The rule of thumb: <strong>match map size to how many people actually play<\/strong>. Too big for your pop feels empty; too small and it&#8217;s a meat grinder.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What a seed is<\/h2>\n<p>The <code>server.seed<\/code> is the number that generates the terrain and monument layout. <strong>The same seed plus the same size always produces the same map.<\/strong> Change the seed for a completely different layout; keep it to run the same map again next wipe. A &#8220;good seed&#8221; usually means balanced monument placement, plenty of decent building spots, good road connectivity and no major terrain bugs \u2014 communities share favourite seeds each wipe.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finding and testing seeds<\/h2>\n<p>Because seed + size is deterministic, you can preview a map before committing: seed-sharing sites and community map previews let you see exactly what a given seed\/size combo generates. Pick one with the monuments and building areas you want, then lock it in.
