In Rust you can’t craft most gear until you’ve unlocked the blueprint<\/strong>. This guide explains default vs learned blueprints, the two ways to unlock them, blueprint wipes, and the fastest path to the gear that matters.<\/p>\n

Default vs learned blueprints<\/h2>\n

Basic items \u2014 tools, twig and wood building, a bow, basic clothing \u2014 are craftable by default. Everything better must be learned<\/strong> as a blueprint before you can craft it. Crucially, blueprints reset on a blueprint wipe<\/strong> (typically alongside the monthly force wipe), so on a fresh wipe everyone starts from scratch \u2014 see the wipe schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The research table<\/h2>\n

Place an item you’ve found<\/strong> plus the required scrap<\/strong> into a Research Table<\/strong> to permanently learn its blueprint. This is the go-to when you loot something specific \u2014 a gun, a tool \u2014 and want to craft more of it. The scrap cost scales with the item’s tier.<\/p>\n

The tech tree<\/h2>\n
