This guide covers how to add and edit weapons in FiveM, and the meta files that control them.<\/p>\n<h2>Two kinds of weapon changes<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Editing existing weapons<\/strong> \u2014 changing damage, recoil, accuracy, range, clip size or flags on the base GTA weapons via <code>weapons.meta<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adding new weapons<\/strong> \u2014 streaming a new weapon model as an add-on resource, with its own model files and meta.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Editing weapon stats (weapons.meta)<\/h2>\n<p>Every weapon&#8217;s behaviour lives in a <code>CWeaponInfo<\/code> block in <code>weapons.meta<\/code>: Damage, WeaponRange, AccuracySpread, RecoilShakeAmplitude, ClipSize and a long list of WeaponFlags. To change a weapon, you stream a modified <code>weapons.meta<\/code> in a resource and point to it with a <code>data_file 'WEAPONINFO_FILE'<\/code> entry in your <code>fxmanifest.lua<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p>Editing that XML by hand is error-prone \u2014 our free <a href=\"https:\/\/xgamingserver.com\/tools\/fivem\/weapons-meta\">weapons.meta editor<\/a> lets you paste your file and edit every documented field, with the ~120 WeaponFlags as checkboxes, then export clean XML.<\/p>\n<h2>Adding a new weapon<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Get an add-on weapon resource (model <code>.ydr<\/code>\/<code>.ytd<\/code> plus its metas).<\/li>\n<li>Place it in <code>resources<\/code> and make sure the <code>fxmanifest.lua<\/code> streams the model and registers the weapon metas.<\/li>\n<li><code>ensure<\/code> the resource in your <a href=\"https:\/\/xgamingserver.com\/blog\/fivem-server-cfg-explained-every-important-setting\/\">server.cfg<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Give it to a player with <code>GiveWeaponToPed<\/code> using its name or JOAAT hash.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Weapon hashes<\/h2>\n<p>Natives like <code>GiveWeaponToPed<\/code> and <code>GetHashKey<\/code> work with the weapon&#8217;s JOAAT hash.
