Enshrouded keeps almost all of its real crafting depth locked behind people, not skill trees. The melee gear, the potions, the farm, the fancy furniture \u2014 every line of it belongs to a sleeping craftsperson buried in an Ancient Vault somewhere across Embervale. Until you dig them out and bring them home, your base is just a campfire with ambitions. This guide walks through every craftsperson worth rescuing, where their vault sits, what each one unlocks, and how the Summoning Staff ties the whole system together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How rescuing survivors actually works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each craftsperson starts as a “sleeping survivor” sealed inside a specific Ancient Vault. According to the official wiki, a survivor must first be rescued from their location in Embervale, after which they can be summoned to your base using the Summoning Staff<\/strong>. In other words, you don’t escort them across the map \u2014 you free them in their vault, then call them to a Flame Altar back home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Summoning Staff recipe unlocks after you rescue the Blacksmith (during the early “Find The Sleeping Survivor” objective). Once unlocked, the staff is cheap \u2014 the wiki lists it as crafted from a single Twig<\/strong> with an instant craft time. The staff itself summons rescued survivors near a Flame Altar inside your base, so you can reposition them as your base grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Blacksmith is the intended first rescue because his vault is the closest to the starting area and because his unlock chain (the Summoning Staff plus basic smithing) gates everything else. After him, the order is up to you, though the Alchemist matters early because he leads you toward the Hollow Halls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five core craftspeople and where to find them<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These are the survivors that unlock the bulk of Enshrouded’s progression. All five live in the Springlands region (the starting biome) or just at its edges, so you can collect the full set fairly early without deep Shroud diving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
