## Both versions supported

XGamingServer supports both Conan Exiles versions on the same hardware. Use the new `CONAN_BRANCH` egg variable (labeled "Game Version" on the Startup tab) to switch between:

- **Conan Exiles Enhanced (UE5)** — the May 5, 2026 free Unreal Engine 5 upgrade
- **Conan Exiles Legacy (UE4)** — for admins whose Workshop mods haven't been repackaged for UE5 yet

After changing the Game Version, stop the server and click Reinstall Server so SteamCMD pulls the new branch.

## Enhanced (UE5) update — May 5, 2026

Conan Exiles Enhanced is the free upgrade that migrates the game from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. Headline changes:

- Both maps merged: The Exiled Lands and The Isle of Siptah are now travelable on a single server simultaneously, no character switching or restarts.
- UE5 Lumen real-time global illumination + Nanite virtualised geometry.
- Targets 60+ FPS on every preset; Steam Deck supported.
- Server folder renamed: `Conan Exiles Dedicated Server` → `Conan Exiles Enhanced Dedicated Server`.
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable installed automatically (UE5 stricter on runtime versions than UE4).
- **Funcom recommends 16 GB minimum RAM for Enhanced.** Server RAM baseline ~15-25% higher than UE4; 4-8 GB UE4-era tiers will spike under load on Enhanced.

## FAQ

### How much RAM does a Conan Exiles Enhanced (UE5) server need?

Funcom recommends a minimum of 16 GB RAM for Enhanced (UE5). UE5's Lumen and Nanite raise baseline server RAM 15-25% versus UE4, and on populated worlds with mods active in memory it can climb meaningfully more. The 4-8 GB tiers that worked under UE4 will spike under load on Enhanced. XGamingServer's ProMax 16 GB matches Funcom's UE5 minimum and is the right starting point for most Enhanced servers; Ultimate 24 GB handles 40+ players, large bases, active Purges, and heavy mods (EEWA, Age of Calamitous, Pippi). If your mods haven't been repackaged for UE5 yet, our Pro 12 GB tier covers Conan Exiles Legacy (UE4) — toggle the version from the panel's Game Version field.

### What maps are available in Conan Exiles Enhanced?

Since the Enhanced (UE5) update on May 5, 2026, Conan Exiles ships both official maps as a single unified world: The Exiled Lands (biomes from desert to frozen north) and The Isle of Siptah (the maelstrom expansion with vaults and elder thing surges) are now travelable on one server simultaneously without character switching, restarts, or separate save files. Multiplayer servers host both regions at once. Community custom maps are still available via mods (mod authors are patching for UE5 post-launch).

### How does the Thrall system work on a private server?

Thralls are NPCs you knock unconscious, drag back to your base with bindings, and break on a Wheel of Pain. Once converted, they serve as crafters (improving station recipes), combat followers, or base defenders. On your own server, you can adjust thrall taming speed, conversion multipliers, and follower damage through ServerSettings.ini to speed up or slow down the process.

### What is the Purge and how do I configure it?

The Purge is a PvE event where waves of NPCs or creatures attack your base. It triggers based on a Purge Meter that fills as you play. Server admins can configure Purge difficulty, wave count, minimum online players required, restricted time windows, and the Purge meter fill rate in ServerSettings.ini. Higher-difficulty Purges can drop unique named thralls with special crafting recipes.

### Can I install Steam Workshop mods on my Conan Exiles Enhanced server?

Yes. Conan Exiles has robust Steam Workshop mod support. Popular mods include Pippi (admin and RP tools), Age of Calamitous (total overhaul with new factions and quests), EEWA (endgame extended weapon arsenal), Fashionist (cosmetic armor transmog), and Emberlight (quality of life improvements). XGamingServer supports Workshop mod installation through the control panel or SFTP, and servers auto-download mods on startup. Mods are being patched by their authors for UE5 compatibility post-launch.

### What ports does Conan Exiles use and does it support crossplay?

Conan Exiles uses three default ports: 7777 (game traffic), 7778 (raw UDP), and 27015 (Steam query). Funcom does not support cross-play or cross-travel — PC players cannot play with Xbox or PlayStation players on the same server, and console versions run on entirely separate infrastructure. XGamingServer hosts PC (Steam) dedicated servers only.

### How do I configure PvP raid windows on my server?

In ServerSettings.ini, you can set specific PvP raid hours by day of the week, controlling exactly when building damage is enabled. This lets you run a PvP server where raiding only happens during peak hours (for example, 6 PM to 11 PM on weekdays) while protecting bases outside those windows. You can also configure PvE-Conflict mode, which allows player combat but prevents building damage entirely.

### What key server settings should I configure for Conan Exiles Enhanced?

The most impactful settings in ServerSettings.ini include: harvest rate multiplier (how many resources per swing), XP multiplier (leveling speed), thrall taming speed, Purge difficulty and timing, building decay timers, day/night cycle length, and religion settings for the seven gods (Set, Mitra, Yog, Ymir, Derketo, Zath, Jhebbal Sag). You can also toggle the Age of Sorcery corruption and spell system on or off. With Enhanced, both Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah are now active by default in the same world — the map-selection setting from the UE4 era no longer applies the same way.
