# How to Update or Change the Version of Your Avorion Server (/docs/avorion/game-version)

Updating to Latest Stable [#updating-to-latest-stable]

1. Stop your server
2. In the [XGamingServer Panel](https://panel.xgamingserver.com), on the **Dashboard**, click **Reinstall Server**
3. Wait for the update
4. Start your server

Beta Branch [#beta-branch]

To use the beta/experimental branch, check your **Startup** tab for a beta branch field, or contact support.

> ⚠️ **Warning:** Downgrading from beta to stable will very likely **corrupt your galaxy save**. Always back up first.

After Updating [#after-updating]

* All players must update their game client to match
* The `Version` field in `server.ini` updates automatically
* Mods may need updating — restart the server to auto-update Workshop mods
