How to Change Max Players on Your CS:GO Server
Set the player count limit on your CS:GO dedicated server — defaults by game mode and how to override.
Default Players by Mode
| Mode | Default |
|---|---|
| Competitive | 10 (5v5) |
| Wingman | 4 (2v2) |
| Casual | 20 (10v10) |
| Deathmatch | 20 |
| Arms Race | 10–20 |
Change Max Players
Open Startup
In the XGamingServer Panel, click Startup in the sidebar.
Set Max Players
Find the Max Players field and enter your desired count.
Restart
Restart from Console for the change to take effect.
Add to the startup command line:
-maxplayers_override 24This overrides the per-mode default. Restart the server to apply.
Override Per-Mode
For mode-specific overrides, edit csgo/gamemodes_server.txt and change the "maxplayers" value under each mode section. See Server Configuration for details.
Note: Actual player count is also limited by map spawn points. A map with 5 T + 5 CT spawns is capped at 10 players regardless of settings.
