Common Issues and Solutions

Cause: Version mismatch, config error, or server not fully started.

Fix:

Check the server logs for errors
Verify all mandatory config values are set (Owner ID, Server Name, Default World Name)
Make sure your game client and server are on the same version — update your server if needed
Restart the server from the XGamingServer Panel

Wait for the server to fully start (check Console output in the panel)
On XGamingServer, ports are configured automatically. If self-hosting, check port forwarding

Cause: Your game client updated but the server is still on the old version.

Update your server to the latest version
Restart the server
Verify versions match by comparing the log file header with your client version (top-left corner)

Cause: Missing or invalid config values, or corrupted save file.

Fix:

Check the server logs for the specific error
Verify all mandatory config settings are correct
If the save file may be corrupted, try starting with a fresh world or restoring a backup

Cause: Editing the config while the server is running.

Fix:

⚠️ Changing DedicatedServer.ini values while the server is running will result in those changes being lost.

Always:

Cause: Known issue — Steam invites to dedicated servers don't work as intended.
