Installing Mods on Your Half-Life Server
Install game mods like The Specialist or Ricochet on your Half-Life Deathmatch dedicated server.
This guide shows you how to install mods on your Half-Life Deathmatch server, allowing you to host other games such as The Specialist, Ricochet, and more.
⚠️ Warning: Half-Life is an old game that has been around for 25+ years. There will be mods that simply will not work. We suggest doing some research to see if the mod you want to use still works, or join our Discord for advice. Make sure your mod is for Linux and is a multiplayer mod.
Installing Mods
Select Your Server
Access the XGamingServer Panel and select your Half-Life Deathmatch server.
Upload the Mod
Download and extract your mod to your PC, then upload the root folder to your server using SFTP. You should only be uploading a single folder without overwriting anything.
Set the Custom Game Folder
In the sidebar, go to Startup and look for the setting Custom Game Folder. Change it to the name of the folder you just uploaded (for example, ts for The Specialist or cstrike for Counter-Strike).
Update the Start Map
Update Start Map to a map that is included in your mod's maps folder.
Restart Your Server
Restart your server for the mod to load.
