Restoring Backups on Your Hytale Server
Learn how to restore your Hytale server from automatic backups using Recovery Mode or manual restoration.
Hytale automatically creates a backup of your server save files every 30 minutes. You can restore from these backups if something goes wrong.
Restoring via Recovery Mode (Recommended)
Stop Your Server
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and Stop your Hytale server.
Enable Recovery Mode
In the sidebar, go to Startup. Find the Boot Mode setting and change it from Normal to Recovery Mode.
Start in Recovery Mode
Go back to the Dashboard and start your server.
Select a Backup
The console will display available backups with timestamps. Enter the number corresponding to the backup you want to restore.
Switch Back to Normal Mode
After the restore completes, go to Startup and change Boot Mode back to Normal.
Restart Your Server
Restart your server to boot with the restored data.
Manual Backup Restoration
For advanced users who need direct control over the restoration process.
Stop Your Server
Access the XGamingServer Panel and Stop your Hytale server.
Download the Backup
In the sidebar, go to Files. Navigate to the backups folder and download the backup you want (e.g., 2026-01-16_20-19-03.zip). Extract it on your PC.
Remove the Old Universe Folder
On your server, rename or delete the existing universe folder.
Upload the Backup
Create a new empty universe folder. Connect via SFTP and upload all the contents from your extracted backup into the new universe folder.
Start Your Server
Start your server to load the restored world.
💡 Tip: Recovery Mode is the easiest and safest method. Only use manual restoration if Recovery Mode is unavailable.
