Setting Up Admin Access on Your Quake Live Server

Manage player permissions, grant admin access, or ban players on your Quake Live dedicated server using access.txt.

Managing player permissions -- including granting administrative privileges or banning players -- is essential for maintaining a healthy gaming environment. Quake Live uses a file called access.txt to handle player permissions.

Setting Yourself As An Admin In Quake Live

Open the Access File

Access the XGamingServer Panel and select your Quake Live server. In the sidebar click on Files. Select the baseq3 folder and find the file named access.txt.

Add Your SteamID

Add a new entry on its own line and follow the format: steamid|(mod|admin|ban) For example: 76561198072786081|ban.

Reload Permissions

Type /reload_access in the console to make the changes live.
