How Imprinting Actually Works

A baby requests one of three care types — cuddle, walk-with, or comfort food — at a fixed interval. The default interval is 8 hours, modified by BabyCuddleIntervalMultiplier. Each successful care request gives a slice of the 100% imprint, calculated as:

cuddleInterval = 8h × BabyCuddleIntervalMultiplier
totalCuddles   = floor(maturationTime / cuddleInterval)
imprintPerCare = 100% / totalCuddles × BabyImprintingStatScaleMultiplier

A 1× Parasaur (26.56h maturation) with default 8h cuddle interval gets 3 cuddles at 33.33% each. A Giga (11d 16h maturation) gets 35 cuddles at 2.85% each — miss one and you cap at 97.15% unless you raise the imprint stat scale.

The 7.31% Mutation Number, Explained

Each breeding makes three independent mutation rolls, each at 2.5%. The probability that at least one roll succeeds is:

P(at least 1 mutation) = 1 - (1 - 0.025)³
                        = 1 - 0.9269
                        = 0.0731  // 7.31%

Both parents must have combined matrilineal + patrilineal counters under 20 for full eligibility. If only one is eligible, chance roughly halves. Each mutation adds +2 mutated levels to a random stat plus a random color-region change (10% chance dye, 90% normal palette). ASA tracks mutated levels separately from wild — cap is 255 mutated.

Stat Inheritance in ASA — 55 / 45

For each of the six inheritable stats (Health, Stamina, Oxygen, Food, Weight, Melee Damage), the baby has a 55% chance to take the higher parent's value and 45% to take the lower. This was changed from the older 70/30 ratio in ASE. In ASA, the stronger wild stat and stronger mutated stat are always inherited together — you cannot end up with the strong wild value but the weak mutated counter.

The probability of getting the "perfect" baby that takes the higher value on every stat is therefore 0.55⁶ = 2.77%. Most breeders aim for one stat at a time and stack across multiple breeding pairs.
