Sulfur is the limiting resource for most raids. Prime sulfur farming spots: Sulfur Quarry (static), Sulfur nodes in desert biome, Dome (safe to solo), Military Tunnels (PvP risk).

Farming Tips

  • Monuments with sulfur: Dome (safe, few rad), Military Tunnels (radiation, PvP), Nuclear Missile Silo.
  • Sulfur Quarry (rare static): places a quarry that extracts sulfur passively.
  • Sulfur nodes (small, medium, large): found across the map. Large nodes give 500-800 sulfur each.
  • Mining Quarry + Pump Jack unlock at Workbench Tier 2 — craft for passive farm.
  • Explosive 5.56 is niche: only worth it vs wood or when you have lots of gunpowder. Inefficient sulfur cost on higher tier structures.

How the Rust Sulfur Calculator Works

Pick the explosives you want (rockets, C4, satchels, F1s) and the calculator reverse-engineers the raw sulfur you need to farm. Sulfur → gunpowder → crafted explosive — every step's cost is included. One rocket = 1,400 sulfur. One C4 = 2,200 sulfur + 20 tech trash. One satchel = 300 sulfur.

Output includes gunpowder count, charcoal, wood (for charcoal smelting), and raw sulfur. That gives you a complete farm list to take to Outpost recyclers or node farms so nothing gets forgotten the morning of the raid.

Farm-time estimate: ~6,000 sulfur/hour from dedicated node farming with a jackhammer and TWO mixing tables running. Mining outposts are faster (~10,000/hour) if you can afford the scrap and you have a stable farm route to get there and back without dying.

Tip: farm sulfur BEFORE crafting anything else. Gunpowder stacks well (1,000 per stack) and mixing is fast; committing to the explo craft first locks in wasted sulfur if the raid changes target.

Rust Sulfur Calculator — FAQ

How much sulfur for 10 rockets in Rust?

14,000 sulfur raw + ~420,000 charcoal. The calculator accounts for gunpowder craft cost (1 sulfur + 30 charcoal per gunpowder) and the 1,400 gunpowder per rocket. Plus metal pipes and frags for the rocket frame.

How long to farm 14,000 sulfur in Rust?

~2.5 hours at the typical 6,000 sulfur/hour rate from dedicated node farming. Closer to 1.5 hours at mining outposts if you can survive the PvP and afford the scrap.

Is it faster to raid with C4 or rockets?

C4 is cheaper per HP but harder to craft (requires 20 tech trash + 10 explosives per). Rockets are faster to deploy and work from range. Most mid-game raids use a mix: rockets for outer walls, C4 for final loot rooms.

Can I skip sulfur by buying explosives in Rust?

Bandit Camp sells some explosive components (tech trash, gunpowder) but not finished rockets or C4. You can buy from player vending machines too — but it's always expensive unless the server has heavy inflation.
