How To Update Your Rust Server
Learn how to update your Rust dedicated server to the latest version.
Rust receives regular updates from Facepunch Studios, including new content, balance changes, and bug fixes. Major updates typically land on the first Thursday of each month. Keeping your server up to date ensures compatibility with the latest game client and gives your players access to new features.
By default, XGamingServer Rust servers have automatic updates enabled. All you need to do is restart your server to apply a pending update.
Updating Your Rust Server
Stop Your Server
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and Stop your Rust server.
Verify Auto-Update Is Enabled
In the sidebar, click Startup. Find the Automatic Update setting and make sure it is enabled.
Start Your Server
Click Start. The server will check for updates and install the latest version before launching.
💡 Tip: After a major Rust update, you may also need to update your Oxide plugins to maintain compatibility. Check uMod for updated versions of your installed plugins.
⚠️ Warning: If players are unable to connect after a Rust update, make sure your server has been restarted so it can download the latest version. Players running the new client cannot join a server that is still on an older version.
