How to Use Color IDs In-Game
// 1. Enable admin mode enablecheats <password> // 2. Look directly at the creature you want to recolor // 3. Run setTargetDinoColor <region> <colorID>: setTargetDinoColor 0 18 // body region → White setTargetDinoColor 4 211 // accent region → Magenta dye // To clear a region back to default: setTargetDinoColor <region> 0
Each creature has up to 6 color regions, indexed 0 through 5. Most creatures only use regions 0–4 — Wyverns, for example, use 0 (body), 4 (highlights), and 5 (frill). The Color Region Reference tool (linked below) shows exactly which regions each creature exposes.
Standard vs Dye IDs
- Standard (1–100): the original creature color palette. Used for natural-looking dinos and breeding mutations. Includes the "Dino Light/Dark/Medium" series tuned to look organic.
- Dye / Coloring (128–254): the dye palette extended in ASA. Brighter, more saturated, includes "Burn", "Gore", "Cottoncandy", and full chromatic ranges. Used by both creature recolors and item recolors.
- ASE-only IDs (201–226): not present in ASA. The original Survival Evolved dye range. Listed in the wiki for reference but won't apply on ASA servers.
