Generate the full Conan Exiles dedicated server config — three files, every field

Conan Exiles' dedicated server uses three .ini files (ServerSettings.ini, Engine.ini, Game.ini) split across multiple sections. Funcom's wiki documents ~80 settings across them. Most server admins copy a config from a friend, change the name and password, and never touch the rest — leaving harvest rates, decay timers, building damage, and stamina costs at unstuck-defaults that don't match their server's intent. This generator exposes every commonly-tuned setting in 7 tabs (Identity / Network + RCON / Combat / Harvest + Craft / Building + Land / Progression / World + Chat) with documented defaults from the Funcom wiki and live ranges grounded in real official-server settings.

The biggest gotcha that wrecks new admins: editing the .ini files while the server is RUNNING. Conan's in-game admin UI overwrites the files on shutdown — every change you made by hand gets reverted. The tool shows a yellow warning banner up-front telling you to stop the server, edit, then restart. The second biggest: serverRegion in ServerSettings.ini is REQUIRED for matchmaking. Wrong region (or 0=EU when you're in NA) = your server simply won't show in the public browser. The tool exposes serverRegion as a labelled dropdown.

Output emits 3 separate files with proper INI section headers and Boolean formatting (Conan uses `True`/`False` not `1`/`0` in ServerSettings.ini, but uses `1`/`0` in Engine.ini's RconPlugin block — getting this wrong silently disables features). Tab in the right pane to switch between ServerSettings.ini, Engine.ini, and Game.ini outputs. Copy or download each. ServerSettings.ini covers the bulk of admin tuning; Engine.ini holds identity / network / RCON; Game.ini holds MaxPlayers and bandwidth tuning.

Combat tab covers the survival damage matrix: PlayerDamageMultiplier (damage you DEAL), PlayerDamageTakenMultiplier (damage you TAKE — this is the #1 confusion since both ship at 1.0), MinionDamageMultiplier (your thralls/pets), NPCDamageMultiplier (enemy NPCs), NPCHealthMultiplier, NPCRespawnMultiplier, plus the survival quartet (Active/Offline Thirst, Active/Offline Hunger) and stamina/sprint scales. Every value is documented with what real Funcom and community servers use.

Harvest + Craft tab includes the canonical 2.0 HarvestAmountMultiplier from the vanilla coop save (most communities use 2-3, hardcore PvP uses 1), ItemSpoilRateScale (food rot rate — 0 disables spoilage entirely), ResourceRespawnSpeedMultiplier, CraftingTimeMultiplier, ThrallCraftingTimeMultiplier (wheel-of-pain capture speed — the most-tuned PvP value), FuelBurnTimeMultiplier.

Building + Land covers the LandClaimRadiusMultiplier (anti-grief no-build radius around bases), BuildingDamageMultiplier, StructureDamageMultiplier, StructureHealthMultiplier, plus the three flag toggles that change the entire server feel: DisableBuildingAbandonment (disable decay on inactive owners), NoOwnership (anyone can interact with anything), ContainerIgnoreOwnership (open chests regardless of owner). Progression tab covers the 5-axis XP modifiers (Time / Kill / Harvest / Craft + the master Rate) plus ClanMaxSize.

Conan Exiles Server Config Generator — FAQ

Where do these .ini files go?

ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ on Windows or LinuxServer/ on Linux. Three files: ServerSettings.ini, Engine.ini, Game.ini. Don't edit while the server is running — Conan's in-game admin UI overwrites the files on shutdown, undoing your changes.

MaxPlayers — set in Engine.ini or Game.ini?

BOTH. Engine.ini and Game.ini each have a [/Script/Engine.GameSession] section with MaxPlayers. The Funcom wiki says set both to the same value or you'll get inconsistent behavior. Hard cap is 70 — official servers run 40.

Why isn't my server showing in the browser?

serverRegion is wrong (or 0=EU when you're in NA). serverRegion in ServerSettings.ini is REQUIRED for matchmaking — it's the region the server browser filters on. 0=EU 1=NA 2=Asia 3=SA 4=Oceania 5=ME.

Vanilla coop default is 2× harvest?

Yes — HarvestAmountMultiplier=2.0 in coop saves. Standalone server defaults to 1.0. Most community servers run 2.0–3.0; PvP-hardcore drops to 1.0.

DisableBuildingAbandonment — what does it do?

True = buildings never decay from owner inactivity. Useful if you have an inactive playerbase you don't want to wipe. Most public PvP servers leave this False so abandoned bases free up land.

ChatLocalRadius for RP servers?

30 (meters) is the canonical RP value — local chat only carries to peds within speaking distance. Combine with ChatHasGlobal=False to force in-character chat. Public-server default is effectively unlimited.

ThrallWakeupTimeSeconds = 600 means what?

Knocked-out NPCs / thralls wake back up after 10 minutes if not dragged. Lower = faster sieges (PvP), higher = chill capture (PvE). 600 is the canonical Funcom default.

RconMaxKarma — what is this?

Threshold for the RCON anti-spam karma system. Players who repeatedly do flagged actions lose karma; below this value RCON can take action. 60 is the canonical default; 0 disables.
