How Minecraft Food Works
- Hunger (visible): 20 points / 10 drumsticks. Eating restores this. Depletes as you do actions — sprinting, jumping, mining, fighting.
- Saturation (invisible): a buffer that depletes BEFORE your hunger. Food with high saturation keeps you full longer. Cap is equal to your current hunger.
- Natural regen: Hunger ≥ 18/20 restores 1 HP every 4 seconds (slow). Hunger ≥ 20/20 AND saturation > 0 = 1 HP every 0.5 seconds (fast).
- Low hunger: Below 6/20 you can't sprint. At 0/20 you start taking damage (Easy: down to 10 HP, Normal: down to 1 HP, Hard: to death).
- Golden Carrot is the best food in the game by saturation. Stock up for long expeditions.
