/tp (Teleport)
The /tp command is one of the most essential admin tools in Minecraft. Common uses include:
- Player warps — teleport yourself or a player to a known coordinate to create a manual warp system before installing a plugin.
- Stuck players — use
/tp PlayerName 0 64 0to rescue players buried or trapped. - Spectate —
/tp @s OtherPlayerinstantly jumps you to another player for moderation or observation. - Selector power — combine selectors with conditions, e.g.
/tp @e[type=minecraft:zombie,limit=1] 0 -64 0to remove a mob by teleporting it into the void.
The optional yaw/pitch arguments control the direction the player faces after teleporting. Yaw 0 = south, 90 = west, ±180 = north, -90 = east. Pitch -90 = straight up, 90 = straight down.
/time
The /time command controls the in-game clock. Key scenarios:
- Always-day server — run
/time set daythen/gamerule doDaylightCycle falseto lock daylight permanently. Ideal for creative or peaceful servers where night-time mobs aren't wanted. - Always-night PvP — set to 13000 and disable the cycle. Hostile mobs spawn freely, increasing difficulty without modifying mob spawning rules.
- Speed up time — use
/time add 1000repeatedly (or via a command block on a clock) to advance time without fully skipping. Useful for timed events. - Day counter —
/time query dayreturns the number of in-game days elapsed — useful for scoreboards and lore events.
One in-game day is 24,000 ticks (roughly 20 minutes real time at default game speed). Named values day, noon, sunset, night, midnight, and sunrise are accepted directly in the command as of 1.13+.
/weather
The /weather command overrides the procedural weather system. Practical uses:
- Events and screenshots — run
/weather clear 3600before a server event to guarantee one hour of clear skies. - Trident testing — Riptide and Channeling enchantments require rain or thunder; use
/weather thunderto test without waiting. - Lightning triggers — combine
/weather thunderwith/summon lightning_boltto transform mobs (creeper → charged creeper, pig → zombified piglin). - Permanent clear — use
/weather clear 1000000combined with/gamerule doWeatherCycle falseto lock weather indefinitely.
The duration parameter is in seconds (Java Edition). Omitting it lets the game choose a random duration. On Bedrock Edition the syntax is identical but duration is in ticks.
