Satisfactory Power Calculator
Free Satisfactory 1.0 power calculator. Pick a generator (Coal, Fuel, Nuclear, Biomass, Geothermal) and target MW — get exact fuel rate (items/min), water consumption, and nuclear waste output. Side-by-side fuel comparison (Fuel vs Turbofuel vs Rocket Fuel vs Ionized Fuel).
Plan Satisfactory power generation, fuel by fuel
Satisfactory 1.0 has 5 generator types and wildly different fuel economies. A Coal Generator burns 15 Coal/min (or 7.14 Compacted Coal, or 25 Petroleum Coke). A Fuel Generator burns 20 Fuel/min — OR 3 Ionized Fuel/min for the same 250 MW. A Nuclear Power Plant eats 0.2 Uranium Fuel Rods/min at 2500 MW. Miss the math and you end up with starved generators or a 10× oversized fuel factory.
Pick a generator type (cards show each with its power rating) and one of its fuels. Then set your target: either "I need X MW" or "I have Y generators" — the calculator reverses between them. Output shows exact actual power produced, fractional generators required, fuel rate in items/min, water consumption in m³/min (Coal: 45/min, Nuclear: 240/min), and nuclear waste production for reactors.
The fuel comparison table is the best part — same generator, same power target, side-by-side rates for every fuel. Fuel Generator at 1000 MW needs 80 Fuel/min OR 30 Turbofuel/min OR 12 Ionized Fuel/min. Pick whichever fits your refinery chain (feed the output of this tool into the Production Calculator to build the fuel supply).
Covers all 1.0 fuels: Coal Generator (Coal, Compacted Coal, Petroleum Coke). Fuel Generator (Fuel, Turbofuel, Liquid Biofuel, Rocket Fuel, Ionized Fuel). Nuclear Power Plant (Uranium Fuel Rod → 0.2 waste/min, Plutonium Fuel Rod → 0.1 waste/min, Ficsonium Fuel Rod → zero waste). Biomass Burner (Leaves, Wood, Mycelia, Biomass, Solid Biofuel, Packaged Liquid Biofuel). Geothermal Generator (no fuel — placed on vents, variable 50/200/400 MW per vent tier).
Satisfactory Power Calculator — FAQ
How much coal does a Coal Generator use?
15 Coal/min at 100% (4 seconds per craft = 1 coal). Or 7.14 Compacted Coal/min (higher energy density) or 25 Petroleum Coke/min (cheaper to produce if you already have oil running). Also needs 45 m³/min Water. Output: 75 MW.
How do I minimize nuclear waste in Satisfactory?
Uranium Fuel Rods produce 0.2 waste/min per Nuclear Plant. Reprocess into Plutonium Fuel Rods (same 2500 MW but only 0.1 plutonium-waste/min). Reprocess plutonium-waste further into Ficsonium Fuel Rods — the only nuclear fuel with ZERO waste in 1.0. Endgame factories should chain Uranium → Plutonium → Ficsonium to hit zero waste.
Which fuel gives the most power in the Fuel Generator?
All Fuel Generators produce 250 MW regardless of fuel — the difference is fuel rate. 20 Fuel/min, 20 Liquid Biofuel/min, 7.5 Turbofuel/min, 4.17 Rocket Fuel/min, 3 Ionized Fuel/min. Higher-tier fuels (Rocket + Ionized) need deeper production chains but let you run more generators from less output — ideal if your fuel factory is the bottleneck.
Does Geothermal Generator output vary?
Yes — Geothermal is the only non-constant generator. Power depends on the vent type (Impure ~50 MW, Normal ~200 MW, Pure ~400 MW) and oscillates continuously by ±10%. It's "free" (no fuel/water) but can't be placed anywhere — only on the ~30 geothermal vents scattered across the map.
How much water does a Nuclear Power Plant use?
240 m³/min per plant (same regardless of fuel rod type). For 5 plants (12,500 MW) you need 1200 m³/min — that's 10 Water Extractors at 120 m³/min each. Don't forget cooling — nuclear plants don't need external cooling in Satisfactory, but the water IS consumed in the reaction.
