What is a Steam64 ID?

A Steam64 ID (also called a SteamID64 or community ID) is a 17-digit number that uniquely identifies every Steam account. They always start with 7656 and are what The Isle Evrima uses internally to match players against admin, whitelist, and VIP lists. Unlike display names or custom vanity URLs, a Steam64 ID never changes — even if the player renames their account — which is why server configs depend on them.

AdminsSteamIDs vs WhitelistIDs vs VIPs

The Isle Evrima exposes three separate Steam64 ID lists in Game.ini. Each one lives under [/script/theisle.tigamestatebase] and has a distinct purpose:

EntryGrantsRequires
AdminsSteamIDsFull admin access — RCON commands and in-game admin panel (god mode, teleport, kick, ban).Nothing else — works standalone.
WhitelistIDsPermission to join when the server is in whitelist mode. All other players get rejected at connect.bServerWhitelist=true under [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameSession].
VIPsBypasses the join queue on full servers. No admin powers, no whitelist bypass.Added in Evrima v0.17.54 — keep your server up-to-date.

Where The Isle Evrima Game.ini Lives

On a Linux dedicated server, the file lives at:

TheIsle/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini

Admin/whitelist/VIP entries all go under one header:

[/script/theisle.tigamestatebase]
AdminsSteamIDs=76561198012345678
WhitelistIDs=76561198087654321
VIPs=76561198099887766

The whitelist enforcement toggle lives under a different section — a common gotcha. If you put bServerWhitelist under the game-state-base header it will silently do nothing:

[/Script/TheIsle.TIGameSession]
bServerWhitelist=true

Live Admin Changes with RCON

Game.ini is only read at server boot, so editing the file requires a restart. For live changes, The Isle Evrima exposes RCON commands including addadmin (promote a connected player to admin) and togglewhitelist (flip whitelist enforcement on/off without a restart). These changes persist to the config file automatically. Browse the full command list with our The Isle RCON tool.

How to Find Your Steam64 ID

The quickest way is to open your Steam profile in a browser. If the URL is steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198..., the 17-digit number is your Steam64 ID — paste it straight in. If instead you see steamcommunity.com/id/your-name, that's a custom vanity URL and doesn't map 1:1 to a Steam64 ID. Feed the vanity URL into a free lookup tool like steamid.io and copy the resulting steamID64 value.

FAQ

How do I find a player's Steam64 ID?

Open the player's Steam profile in a browser. If the URL contains /profiles/7656..., the 17-digit number is their Steam64 ID. If it contains /id/name, paste the full URL into steamid.io to resolve it. You can also ask the player to right-click their own name in the Steam friends list and copy the profile URL.

What's the difference between AdminsSteamIDs, WhitelistIDs, and VIPs?

AdminsSteamIDs grants full moderation powers — RCON, kick, ban, teleport, god mode. WhitelistIDs only controls who can connect when whitelist mode is enabled; it gives no admin privileges. VIPs skip the join queue when the server is full but have no admin or whitelist powers. A player can be in multiple lists at once — e.g. you typically want your admins in both AdminsSteamIDs and WhitelistIDs on a whitelisted server.

Can I add admins without restarting the server?

Yes. Connect with any RCON client and run addadmin <steam64> to promote a player live. Similar commands exist for whitelist and VIP management. The change is written to Game.ini automatically so it persists across restarts. Full list: The Isle RCON tool.

Why isn't my whitelist working even though I added IDs?

WhitelistIDs by itself does nothing — you also need bServerWhitelist=true under a separate section: [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameSession]. Without that toggle the list is just ignored and everyone can connect. Restart the server after changing it, or use the RCON togglewhitelist command.

Is there a limit on how many admins, whitelisted players, or VIPs I can add?

There's no hard per-list cap enforced by The Isle Evrima — you can add as many entries as you like to any of the three lists. Very large lists (thousands of entries) may slow server boot slightly while the config parses. For community servers with hundreds of VIPs or whitelist entries, managing the list externally and syncing via RCON is more practical than editing Game.ini by hand.

Can I paste a Steam vanity URL (steamcommunity.com/id/name) directly?

No — The Isle Evrima's config only accepts numeric Steam64 IDs. Vanity URLs are a display alias that Steam resolves server-side via its Web API, and this tool runs entirely in your browser with no API calls. Drop the vanity URL into steamid.io or any similar lookup service to get the underlying Steam64 ID, then paste that here.
