How to Join a StarRupture Server

StarRupture uses Epic Online Services (EOS) for multiplayer, not traditional Steam networking. This means you must connect using the game’s Dedicated Server option with your IP:Port – there is no Steam server browser. This guide walks you through connecting to your StarRupture server.

What You’ll Need

• Your server IP Address and Port (default port: 7777)
• The server password (if one was set)
• StarRupture installed on your PC

Finding Your Server IP and Port

1. Log into your XGamingServer control panel
2. Select your StarRupture server
3. Your IP:Port is displayed in the server details section (e.g., 123.456.789.0:7777)

Step 1: Set Your Server Password (First Time Only)

Before anyone can join the server, the server password must be created in-game using the Manage Server option. This only needs to be done once.

1. Start your StarRupture server from the control panel
2. Launch StarRupture on your PC
3. From the Main Menu, click Manage Server
4. Enter your server’s IP:Port (from your control panel)
5. Click Connect
6. On your first connection, you will be prompted to create an ADMIN password
7. Once in the server management section, you can create a new game and set a PLAYER password

Note: If no PLAYER password is set, anyone can join the server without one.

Step 2: Join Your Server (Players)

After the initial setup, you and other players can connect:

1. Launch StarRupture
2. From the Main Menu, click Join Game
3. Open the Dedicated Server tab
4. Enter the server IP:Port (e.g., 123.456.789.0:7777)
5. Enter the PLAYER password (if one was set)
6. Click Connect

Important: No Server Browser

StarRupture does not use a traditional server browser like many Steam games. This is expected behavior:

• StarRupture uses EOS (Epic Online Services), not Steam networking
• You must join using Join Game → Dedicated Server
• Always use direct IP:Port connection
• Your server will not appear in any server browser list

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Can’t Connect to the Server

• Confirm the server is Started/Online in the control panel
• Double-check you entered the correct IP:Port
• Verify the password is correct (passwords are case-sensitive)
• Restart the server from the control panel and try again
• Wait 30-60 seconds after starting the server before connecting

Password Issues

• The password is set inside StarRupture via Manage Server, not in the control panel
• If you forgot the password, delete Password.json via FTP from the root server directory
• Reconnect through Manage Server to set a new password

Connection Timeout

• Ensure ports are properly configured (default: 7777 UDP)
• Check if your firewall is blocking the connection
• Verify your game is updated to the latest version

“Server Not Visible” Error

This is normal! StarRupture doesn’t have a server browser. You must always use:

• Join Game → Dedicated Server → Enter IP:Port

Playing with Friends

To play with friends on your server:

1. Share your server IP:Port with your friends
2. Share the PLAYER password (if you set one)
3. Have everyone follow the “Step 2: Join Your Server” instructions above
4. Use Discord or voice chat to coordinate joining
