RuneScape: Dragonwilds Update 0.11 Dowdun Reach — What’s New for Server Hosts

RuneScape: Dragonwilds update 0.11 “Dowdun Reach” dropped in March 2026 with two massive additions: a brand new region to explore and the long-awaited dedicated server support. Here’s a breakdown of what this update means for server operators and communities.

Dedicated Servers Are Here

The headline feature for the community: Jagex has officially launched dedicated server support for RuneScape: Dragonwilds. This was the most requested feature since the game’s Early Access launch in April 2025, and 0.11 delivers it with:

  • Free dedicated server application via Steam (App ID: 4019830)
  • Support for Windows and Linux
  • Up to 6 concurrent players (expanded from the previous 4-player co-op limit)
  • Full server browser integration
  • Owner/Admin/User permission system
  • Persistent worlds with .sav file management

Dowdun Reach — New Endgame Region

The new Dowdun Reach region adds significant endgame content to Ashenfall. For server communities, this means:

  • New resources and crafting materials exclusive to the region
  • Higher-level enemies and encounters
  • New quests and exploration objectives
  • Extended playtime for groups who had exhausted existing content

This makes dedicated servers even more valuable — with Dowdun Reach, there’s substantially more content to progress through as a group.

Player Cap Increase to 6

Update 0.11 bumped the maximum player count from 4 to 6 on dedicated servers. Jagex has stated they’re “hoping to iterate” on this number further, so future updates may increase it again. For now, 6 players allows for more diverse group compositions — you can have specialists in different skills working together more effectively.

Server RAM Scaling

Jagex published clear RAM requirements with the update:

  • 2GB base + 1GB per connected player
  • Full 6-player server needs approximately 8GB RAM

This is relatively modest compared to other survival games, making Dragonwilds servers affordable to host.

Two Server Types

0.11 introduced two distinct server types:

  • Vanilla servers — Unmodifiable, ensuring fair and consistent gameplay
  • Moddable servers — Support customization via the UE4SS modding framework

This lets competitive communities play on even footing while creative groups can experiment with mods from Nexus Mods.

What’s Next

Jagex continues to develop Dragonwilds toward its full 1.0 release (expected 2026). The dedicated server infrastructure is likely to improve with future updates, potentially including higher player caps, more admin tools, and official mod support through Steam Workshop.
