Troubleshooting Your BeamMP Server
Learn how to fix common BeamMP dedicated server issues including heartbeat failures, connection problems, cars not moving, and launcher errors.
Here are some common BeamMP server issues and how to fix them.
Server Not Showing in Browser
If your server is not appearing in the multiplayer browser, or you see [WARN] Backend failed to respond to a heartbeat in your console, your server is unable to be queried by BeamMP.
The most common causes are:
-
Missing AuthKey - Your server requires an AuthKey to display in the server browser. Create an AuthKey for your BeamMP server.
-
Server set to private - Ensure
Privateis set toFalseinStartupof the XGamingServer game panel.
If unsuccessful, ensure your AuthKey is correct and that you have restarted your server. Otherwise, BeamMP may be having network issues and you should wait a few minutes.
Stuck on Connecting
If you are stuck on "Connecting", "Start", or "Socket Error", this is most commonly caused by an incompatible or corrupted mod file, especially right after BeamNG has updated.
Deactivate Your Client Mods
Restart your PC and BeamMP. Open BeamMP and go to Repository then Mods Manager. Click Deactivate all mods, then only re-enable MultiplayerBeamMP. Try connecting to your server.
Test Without Server Mods
If the above does not work, temporarily rename the Resources/Client folder on your server and restart it to disable server-side mods. Try connecting without mods. If successful, the issue is mod-related.
Narrow Down the Problem
Start by removing half of the mods on your server and testing. We recommend using SFTP to move multiple mods at a time. If you recently uploaded a mod, start troubleshooting from there.
📝 Note: Persistent "Socket Error" messages may indicate a corrupted mod file or firewall/anti-virus issue. Double-check that all mod uploads were successful.
Creating a New BeamNG Profile
If the steps above do not resolve the connection issue:
Open the User Folder
Open the BeamMP launcher. Click Manage User Folder and select Open User Folder.
Rename the Current Profile
Rename the current folder (for example, current to current_OLD).
Reconnect
Start BeamMP and connect to your server with the fresh profile.
Cars Not Moving
If you can connect but cars will not move, try the following:
-
Check your system date and time - An incorrect date or time on your PC can cause cars to not move in BeamMP.
-
Wait for the event queue - On the latest versions of BeamMP, you need to wait for the event queue to finish processing before cars will start moving. This may take a few moments after spawning.
