Switch Between Factorio Server Versions

Learn how to change your Factorio dedicated server to a specific version for save compatibility or testing purposes.

Changing your Factorio server version is handy if you want to upload an old save or need compatibility with specific mods. Newer Factorio versions may not be compatible with older saves due to recipe changes and other updates.

⚠️ Warning: We do not recommend using your current save or mods on an older version of Factorio. If you still want to try, manually download a backup of your save before proceeding.

⚠️ Warning: If you are going back to a version before 2.0, you will need to disable the Space Age mods in /mods/mod-list.json. Change the following to false: elevated-rails, quality, space-age.

Changing Your Server Version

Stop Your Server

Access the XGamingServer panel and stop your server.

Configure the Version Settings

In the sidebar, go to Startup. Make sure Automatic Updates are Enabled. Edit Factorio Version to your desired version, and set Save Name to something different from your current save.

Restart Your Server

Restart your server to download and apply the selected version.

All versions, including the latest, can be found on the Factorio Download Archive.

📝 Note: Certain versions may require additional setup. Check the console output for more information or join our Discord for help.
