Upload a Custom Map to Your Factorio Server
Step-by-step guide on how to upload your existing save file to your Factorio dedicated server, including modded worlds.
This guide walks you through uploading an existing save file to your Factorio server. This is also useful when starting a new modded world that requires a custom map, such as Space Exploration.

Uploading an Existing Save
Locate Your Save File
Navigate to your Factorio save file location:
- Windows: Press
WIN+Rand enter%APPDATA%\Factorio\saves - Mac OS: Press
CMD+Spaceand enter~/Library/Application Support/factorio/saves - Linux:
~/.factorio/saves
Copy Your Save File
Find the save .zip file you want to upload and copy it to a safe location.
Stop Your Server
Access the XGamingServer panel and stop your Factorio server.
Upload the Save
In the sidebar, go to Files and open the saves directory. Drag the save .zip file from your computer to the server.
💡 Tip: Rename your save
.zipfile to remove any spaces if present.
Set the Save Name
Navigate to Startup in the sidebar and look for Save Name. Change it to the exact name of your uploaded save file (without the .zip extension).
Start Your Server
Start your server to load the uploaded save.
