Installing Mods on Your Factorio Server
Learn how to manually install mods and enable automatic mod updates on your Factorio dedicated server.
This guide shows you how to install mods on your Factorio server. You can download mods from the Factorio Mods Portal.
Manually Installing Mods
Stop Your Server
Load the XGamingServer panel and stop your Factorio server.
Open the Mods Folder
In the sidebar, click Files. Open the mods folder.
Upload Your Mods
Drag the mod .zip files you want to add into the mods folder. File uploads are limited to 1GB per file; for larger files, use SFTP.
Restart Your Server
Restart your server. Once installed, players who join will automatically download the mods to their game client.
⚠️ Warning: Make sure you install all dependencies the mod requires. These are listed on the mod download page at mods.factorio.com. You will find them on the
Downloadstab underDependencies, listed in green.
Enabling Automatic Mod Updates
XGamingServer can automatically manage the mods on your server, keeping them up to date when your server starts. It will update or downgrade your mods depending on the Factorio version you have set.
Open Startup Settings
Log in to the XGamingServer panel and select your server. In the sidebar, go to Startup.
Set Your Factorio Credentials
Ensure your Factorio Account Username and Factorio Account Token are set. You can get them from the Factorio Profile page.
Enable Automatic Updates
Set Update Mods to Enabled.
Restart Your Server
Restart your server. Mods will be automatically updated on each server start.
