The RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 launch brought the classic RuneScape gear ladder to its full height — all the way to iconic red Dragon armour. If you’re gearing up for the endgame and the boss Kuldra, this is the progression you’re climbing, the materials you’ll need, and the new benches that craft it all. Every item name here is confirmed from the 1.0 patch notes.

The armour & weapon tiers, low to high
Dragonwilds follows RuneScape’s familiar metal progression. Through Early Access you climbed to Steel; 1.0 adds the top tiers on top:
- Iron → Steel — your Early Access progression (Steel added in the Fellhollow update, with its plumed Full Helm)
- Adamant — crafted in the Umbral Sands region
- Rune — the new melee ceiling in 1.0: Rune Helmet, Platebody, Platelegs and Shield, plus Rune Dagger, Sword, Scimitar, Mace, Warhammer, Greataxe, Greatsword and Crossbow
- Dragon — the endgame red armour, earned from Kuldra (below)
Ranged & magic gear
Melee isn’t the only path — 1.0 rounds out the other two combat styles:
- Ranged: Black Dragonhide armour (Coif, Body, Chaps) plus the Magic Longbow and Magic Shortbow, and the Rune Crossbow. Red Dragonhide and Infinity Robes come from the Umbral Sands.
- Magic: the Ancestral set — Ancestral Hat, Robes and Robe Legs — with the Ancestral Staff and the brand-new Wand weapon type. Wands are faster and more mobile than staves, trading raw damage for movement.

Dragon gear: the endgame reward from Kuldra
The red Dragon set is the top of the ladder, and it comes from the new endgame boss, Kuldra, the God-Eater, in the Scorned Wilderness. Your first kill guarantees the Dragon Kiteshield and a Cape. Repeat runs then earn the full set:
- Dragon Full Helm & Dragon Med Helm
- Dragon Platebody & Dragon Platelegs
- Dragon Shield
- Dragon Scimitar and Dragon Crossbow

New materials & benches you’ll need
Top-tier crafting in 1.0 runs on a chain of new materials. Key ones:
- Runite Ore & Luminite Ore — mined with an Adamant Pickaxe or better
- Magic Wood — chopped with a Rune Logging Axe or better
- Black Dragon Hide — crafted at the Advanced Tannery
- Runic Powder and Ground Dragon Tooth — made at the Grindstone
- Vis Fibers (Advanced Spinning Wheel) → Vis Cloth at the Loom, using Draconic Vis Wax from the Brewing Cauldron
1.0 also added the Advanced Spinning Wheel — a separate processing bench from the regular Spinning Wheel, needed for the highest-tier cloth. And a reminder: your weapons are pushed to max Power Level using the Umbral Sands’ Nightmare Crucible before you take on Kuldra.

Grind it out with your group
Gearing to Dragon takes repeat endgame runs, and it’s far better with a crew. 1.0’s crossplay dedicated servers let PC and console players share one persistent world that’s online 24/7 — so the grind continues even when you’re offline.
