WARDOGS Grenades & Throwables Guide: Smoke Colours Explained (2026)

Every WARDOGS grenade and throwable — frags, C4, smoke, and what each signal grenade colour means (blue friendly, red hostile), with prices from the game files.

Grenades and throwables win WARDOGS fights you can’t win with bullets — clearing a held room, screening a push across open ground, or calling in your team. But WARDOGS also has a whole set of signal grenades whose colours mean specific things, and getting them wrong can cost your squad. We pulled every throwable and its price straight from the game files — here’s what each one does and when to use it.

Price throwables into your kit against the $10,000 budget in the Loadout Builder.

Explosive grenades

  • M67 Frag Grenade — $200: the standard fragmentation grenade and your bread-and-butter for clearing rooms and flushing entrenched enemies. Light at 0.4 kg, cheap enough to carry a couple.
  • Improvised Explosive Device (IED) — $300: a heavier explosive (1.5 kg) for area denial and hitting groups.
  • Remote Detonator (C4) — $550: the priciest throwable, and the most tactical — place it and blow it on your timing. Almost weightless (0.02 kg). Perfect for ambushes, mining a doorway, or trapping an objective before you fall back.

Explosives are how you beat a defender who’s holding an angle you can’t peek. On Zestafona’s tight warehouses especially, a well-placed frag does what a rifle can’t.

Smoke grenades

  • M18 Smoke Grenade: White — $100
  • M18 Smoke Grenade: Black — $100

Smoke is your single most underrated tool on WARDOGS’ open maps. Screening a crossing — like sprinting the exposed Sunflower fields on Bakurani or the farmland on Ozeti — turns a suicidal run into a survivable one. Pop smoke before you move, not after you’re caught. At $100 it’s some of the cheapest survivability you can buy.

Signal grenades — learn the colours

This is the one that catches new players out. WARDOGS has a set of M18 signal grenades, each a different colour with a specific meaning. They’re cheap ($50 each) but they’re a communication tool — throw the wrong colour and you send your squad the wrong message. From the files:

Signal grenade Colour Means Price
Friendly Blue Friendly position / on us $50
Hostile Red Enemy position / contact here $50
Landing Zone Purple Mark an LZ $50
Supply Request Green Request supplies here $50
Alert Yellow General alert / attention $50
Damaged Vehicle Orange Mark a damaged vehicle $50

The two you’ll use most: Blue = friendly and Red = hostile. Mark contacts with red so your team knows where the enemy is; drop blue to show a rally point. Purple marks a landing zone and green calls for supplies — both tie into WARDOGS’ logistics, which is a real part of how matches are won (and, per our cash guide, how you earn).

How to use your throwable slot

  1. Carry smoke first. At $100 it saves more lives than any explosive, especially on the open maps.
  2. Add a frag ($200) for clearing rooms and breaking defenders off an angle.
  3. Learn blue and red signals before you touch the others — good marking makes your whole squad more effective.
  4. Save C4 ($550) for setups — ambushes, trapped objectives, or covering a fallback.

Slot throwables into a full loadout in the loadout builder, and see all gear in the gear database.

WARDOGS throwables FAQ

What do the different smoke grenade colours mean in WARDOGS?

The coloured M18s are signal grenades: Blue = friendly, Red = hostile/enemy, Purple = landing zone, Green = supply request, Yellow = alert, Orange = damaged vehicle. Plain white and black smoke are for screening/concealment.

What’s the best grenade in WARDOGS?

The M67 Frag ($200) for clearing rooms, and smoke ($100) for crossing open ground — arguably the more valuable of the two on WARDOGS’ large maps.

How does the Remote Detonator (C4) work?

You place it and detonate on your own timing, making it ideal for ambushes and trapping objectives. It’s the most expensive throwable at $550 but nearly weightless.

How much do signal grenades cost?

$50 each — cheap enough to carry for communication. Just throw the right colour: red for enemies, blue for friendlies.
