WARDOGS — the up-to-100-player, all-out-warfare FPS from BULKHEAD and published by Team17 — launched into Steam Early Access on 10 September 2026 and immediately became one of the most-played games on the platform. With that many players fighting over a 256 km² fully destructible battlefield, the obvious question is: what comes next? Here is everything that is officially confirmed to be coming to WARDOGS during Early Access — and, just as importantly, what BULKHEAD has deliberately not promised.
How long will WARDOGS be in Early Access?
BULKHEAD expects the Early Access period to run for roughly one to two years. During that window the studio plans to expand the game with new content, systems and balance passes based on how the community actually plays, rather than shipping a fixed feature list on a fixed date.
The honest part: there is no dated roadmap
This is the most important thing to understand about the WARDOGS roadmap. BULKHEAD has been unusually transparent that it will not publish an ambitious, dated roadmap during Early Access. The studio has said it would rather under-promise and over-deliver than attach dates to features that could slip. So while the features below are confirmed as coming, none of them have release dates attached, and anyone claiming exact dates is guessing. We will update this page as BULKHEAD confirms more.
Confirmed post-launch content
Across official statements and press coverage, the following have been confirmed as planned additions after the Early Access launch:
- Fighter jets — a major expansion of air power on top of the helicopters and ground vehicles already in the game.
- New maps — additional battlefields beyond the launch world set.
- New weapon categories — fresh weapon classes added to the arsenal over time.
- New objective types — more ways to fight over the control zone than the launch modes.
- The Black Market & Vault — a commerce-and-storage layer where players trade and stash gear and currency.
- Player Skills & Challenges — long-term progression through unlockable skills, plus in-game challenges to complete.
Seasons, resets and Gold Bars
WARDOGS is built around a seasonal structure. The economy periodically resets to keep the meta fresh and stop veterans from snowballing an unbeatable lead. Season 1 is confirmed to last exactly one month, though BULKHEAD has said the gap between seasons may vary while it prioritises building new content. A premium currency, Gold Bars, sits alongside the in-match cash economy for longer-term progression and the Black Market.
What’s already in the game at launch
It is easy to forget how much is already live. The Early Access build ships with the core WARDOGS experience:
- Up to 100 players across three teams fighting over a randomized control zone.
- A 256 km² fully destructible map where buildings, cover and terrain can be reshaped by the fight.
- Vehicles and logistics — land and air vehicles, supply lines, and shared FOB and base building.
- An in-match cash economy that funds your loadout and vehicles.
- Server-side anti-cheat and, for community servers, a full RCON admin API.
What the roadmap means for playing on your own server
WARDOGS runs on dedicated community servers, and BULKHEAD only allows those servers through approved hosting partners — you cannot self-host WARDOGS on a home PC. As new maps, objective types and seasons arrive, community servers are where organised groups will want to run their own rotations, events and rules. If you want to be ready for that, keep an eye on WARDOGS server hosting, and in the meantime our free WARDOGS tools already cover the essentials:
- Can You Run WARDOGS? — check your PC against the official system requirements.
- Live Player Count — see how many people are in WARDOGS right now.
- Artillery & Mortar Calculator — get the exact elevation and azimuth to land your shots.
- RCON Console — administer a WARDOGS dedicated server from your browser.
The bottom line
WARDOGS’ Early Access roadmap is deliberately loose: fighter jets, new maps, new weapon categories, new objectives, the Black Market & Vault, and Player Skills & Challenges are all confirmed, layered on top of a seasonal economy — but without dates. BULKHEAD is playing it honest, and so will we: we will keep this page current as each item is officially confirmed. Bookmark it, and check back after each season.
