Moder is Valheim’s fourth boss — a frost dragon perched atop the Mountains. Defeating her unlocks Dragon Tears for the Artisan Table and one of the best travel powers in the game. Here’s how to beat Moder.
How to summon Moder
Place 3 Dragon Eggs on her altar, found on a high Mountain peak. Dragon Eggs come from nests scattered across the Mountains — they’re heavy and can’t be teleported, so plan to carry them overland or by boat.
Prepare before the fight
- Mead: Frost Resistance mead is mandatory for the biome and the fight.
- Weapon: the Draugr Fang bow with good arrows is the standard answer for her flying phase. Silver melee weapons like Frostner work on the ground.
- Armor & food: Wolf or Fenris armor and strong food.
The fight
Moder alternates between ground and air. On the ground she bites and breathes a frost cone — circle behind her and strike. When she takes flight she dive-bombs and rains ice shards, so use rocks and terrain for cover and switch to your bow to keep the damage flowing. Keep moving and don’t get cornered against the peak’s edges.
Rewards
Moder drops her trophy and Dragon Tears, used to craft the Artisan Table (unlocking the blast furnace and windmill). Her Forsaken Power gives a constant favourable wind for sailing — a game-changer for exploration. See the boss tracker.
