Is Enshrouded Crossplay? PC, PS5 & Xbox Explained

“Is Enshrouded crossplay?” is one of the most common questions from players waiting to team up with friends on PlayStation and Xbox. The short answer in 2026: Enshrouded does not currently support crossplay or cross-platform play, because it is still a PC-only game in Steam Early Access. Console versions are confirmed and on the way, but crossplay between PC and console has not been officially promised. Here’s exactly where things stand and what to expect at the 1.0 launch.

Is Enshrouded crossplay right now?

No. As of mid-2026, Enshrouded is available only on PC (Steam Early Access, which launched January 24, 2024). Because there is just one platform, there is nothing to “cross” between — every player you team up with is also playing on PC. The game supports up to 16-player co-op, so the multiplayer is there; it simply lives entirely on PC for now.

This means terms like “crossplay” and “cross-platform play” don’t yet apply. PC players can already play together freely — whether on a friend’s hosted session or a dedicated server — without any platform barrier. If you want to set that up, our co-op host and join guide walks through inviting friends step by step.

Enshrouded console release: PS5 and Xbox

Developer Keen Games has confirmed that Enshrouded will leave Early Access and fully launch (version 1.0) on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The most recent public window for that 1.0 console launch is Fall 2026, with no exact date announced yet. A final major Early Access update is planned ahead of 1.0 and introduced the first version of the Adventure Sharing feature when it launched on April 21, 2026 — Adventure Sharing V1 is already live. Because these are roadmap dates, treat the timing as subject to change — the studio has shifted windows before.

Crucially, confirming the console launch is not the same as confirming crossplay. As of this writing, Keen Games has not officially stated that PC, PS5, and Xbox players will be able to play together at launch, nor whether cross-progression (carrying a save between platforms) will be supported.

Will crossplay come with the console launch?

It’s possible, but unconfirmed. The developers have acknowledged that crossplay is something players want, and many co-op survival titles do add cross-platform multiplayer around their full launch. However, there is no official promise that Enshrouded will ship crossplay on day one of its PS5 and Xbox release — and there’s no confirmed cross-progression either. Until Keen Games says otherwise, plan your co-op around playing on the same platform as your friends.

If a friend is on PC and you want to join them today, the simplest path is to all play on PC. A persistent dedicated server is the best way to keep a shared world online 24/7 so everyone can drop in whenever, regardless of who’s hosting. You can spin one up in minutes with our managed Enshrouded hosting, and the Enshrouded server documentation covers configuration end to end.

What you can do today

  • Play with PC friends now: co-op for up to 16 players works across any PC players — just get everyone on the same world or server.
  • Run a dedicated server: a 24/7 server means the world stays online even when the host is offline, which beats relying on one person to always be present.
  • Wait for console + watch for crossplay news: the PS5 and Xbox versions arrive with 1.0 (currently targeted for Fall 2026); crossplay may or may not accompany them.
  • Don’t assume cross-progression: there’s no confirmation a PC save will carry to console, so plan your main world accordingly.

Setting up a server is straightforward. If you’re going the self-host route, see our dedicated server setup guide for the full walkthrough, including the requirements your hardware needs to meet.

Frequently asked questions

Is Enshrouded cross-platform between PC and console?

Not currently, because Enshrouded is still a PC-only game. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are confirmed to arrive with the 1.0 launch (currently targeted for Fall 2026), but cross-platform play between PC and those consoles has not been officially confirmed.

Can I play Enshrouded with friends on a different platform?

For now, everyone needs to be on PC, since that’s the only platform available. PC players can freely join the same co-op world or dedicated server — up to 16 players. Cross-platform multiplayer would only become possible after the console release, and only if crossplay is added.

Will my PC save transfer to PS5 or Xbox?

There is no official confirmation of cross-progression or save transfer between PC and console. Until Keen Games announces it, assume your PC progress stays on PC. If you want a stable shared world to keep playing on now, a dedicated server is the most reliable option.
