Apex Legends' latest season, titled Resurrection, introduces a range of fresh elements to the widely-played battle royale game. Alongside these additions, Respawn has also given a substantial update to one of the game's oldest features: Revenant, the undead murderbot who has been around for 359 years. Termed "Revenant Reborn" by the developers, this new seasonal update equips Apex's notorious murderbot with a completely new set of skills to conquer.
Instead of being able to nullify other legends' abilities and resurrect his squad instantly with his Death Totem, Revenant has now gained improved movement abilities and an extra shield for defense against incoming damage. These changes may seem insignificant, but they have transformed Revenant into a much more formidable opponent in the game's competitive scene. Let's explore Revenant's new abilities in detail and provide some tips to help you become a master of this deadly assassin's new skills.

Currently being featured is the launch trailer for the Resurrection Season of Apex Legends, titled "Kill Code – Part 2
Basic Information:
Full Name: Kaleb Cross
Nickname: Revenant
Age: 44 (as a human), 359 (as a robot)
The origin of the Homeworld is currently unidentified, although it was previously referred to as Solace, which is the setting for the Kings Canyon map.
Character category: Fighter
Similar to Ash, there is limited information available about Revenant's life before his death. However, in the official Apex Legends lore book called Pathfinder's Quest, which was released in 2020, we get some insight into Revenant's background. Revenant was actually named Kaleb Cross and not much is known about his upbringing. However, based on his in-game comments, it is revealed that Kaleb had a hobby of painting and had a highly troubled relationship with his abusive father. Eventually, their conflict escalated to the point where Kaleb murdered his father using a palette knife after a disagreement over one of his paintings turned into a physical altercation.
Kaleb eventually became a member of the Mercenary Syndicate, working as a hired assassin to eliminate difficult and valuable targets. One of his assignments was Marcos Andrade, who happened to be Loba's father. Revenant disrupted a private and heavily guarded family dinner at a fancy restaurant called Tenmei on Olympus. This restaurant also happened to be one of Pathfinder's many workplaces, and he witnessed the attack on Loba's family. After killing Loba's mother and snapping her father's neck (leaving a young Loba unharmed), Kaleb noticed a large shard of glass sticking out of his own neck, which was likely the result of breaking a window with Marcos's body. As he looked at his reflection in the window, Kaleb pulled out the glass from what should have been a fatal wound, only to see his reflection change. It was then revealed that he was not a human, but a robot who had been unknowingly controlled by the Syndicate for decades.
Actually, Kaleb passed away almost three centuries before the event involving Loba's parents took place. He had exerted excessive psychological pressure on one of his targets, leading to the man drowning Revenant in filth at Gaea's sewage treatment plant. The Syndicate, determined not to lose their most efficient assassin, transferred Revenant's consciousness into a robotic body without his permission. They also programmed him to be incapable of causing harm to himself. The production of Revenant's robotic bodies was carried out by Hammond Robotics.
Ever since then, Revenant has been doing everything in his power to locate his source code and find someone who can help him put an end to his existence. He took the life of Apex Legend competitor James "The Forge" McCormick, who was backed by Hammond Robotics, and assumed his position in the Games by killing him on live TV. Revenant's hope is to find his source code and ultimately cease to exist by repeatedly dying until he exhausts all the spare "shells" he can inhabit. During his time in the Apex Games, Revenant encountered an adult Loba, who had joined the Games with the sole objective of seeking revenge for her family's massacre. Despite his attempts to persuade Loba, Bangalore, and Valkyrie to assist him, they all refused. In desperation, Revenant started intentionally losing his Apex matches in order to quickly deplete the large number of spare bodies that the Syndicate had created for him to respawn into after each death. This experience is excruciating and mentally destabilizing for Revenant.
After realizing that Revenant was trying to eliminate all of his previous bodies, Torres "Duardo" Silva, the present leader of the Syndicate and Octane's grandfather, intervened and reconstructed Revenant with enhanced abilities and a more durable physical form. However, the specific motives behind Torres' decision and the exact method used to accomplish this remain unknown.
Revenant has a set of new abilities, which are as follows:
Revenant's new passive ability, called Assassin's Instinct, has received a significant improvement. While it still allows Revenant to crouch-walk faster and more silently than other legends, as well as climb faster and higher than them, it now also enables him to climb horizontally. This added feature makes it even easier for Revenant to execute sneak attacks, make quick escapes, and perform ambushes.
However, there is more to Assassin's Instinct. It grants Revenant's optical array the ability to identify and highlight enemies within a 30-meter radius who have less than 40 health. If Revenant is the one responsible for lowering their health below the 40-point threshold, the enemy will be highlighted for Revenant's entire team to see. With these additional features, Revenant's passive ability stands out as one of the most powerful in the game.
Tactical Ability: Shadow Leap
Revenant has the ability to build up energy and swiftly leap across the battlefield.
The ability being discussed here is very versatile and enjoyable to use. It shares similarities with other abilities like Newcastle's Castle Wall or Vantage's Echo Relocation. When activated, Revenant is propelled forward at a fast pace, allowing for quick repositioning whenever necessary. Its cooldown time is relatively short, only 19 seconds, and when fully charged, it can launch Revenant a similar distance to Octane's Jump Pads (without the extra distance from the double-jump feature).
In the game "Ultimate: Forged Shadows," the character Revenant has the ability to create an overshield powered by shadows. This overshield can absorb up to 75 points of damage. Additionally, while the ability "Forged Shadows" is active, if Revenant successfully knocks down an enemy, both the overshield and Revenant's Shadow Pounce ability are instantly recharged. The effect of Forged Shadows lasts for
In the game, there is a class perk called "Care Package Insight" that is exclusive to the Skirmisher-class character called Revenant. This perk allows Revenant to have a special ability to see Care Packages even if they are behind walls, terrain, or other barriers. By focusing on a Care Package for a brief period of time, Revenant can mark it for their team and also uncover the most valuable item inside it.
Advice
The abilities of Revenant's latest update are extremely strong, but they require practice to fully understand. This is especially true for long-time players of the character. Becoming skilled with Revenant Reborn means letting go of any preconceived notions about how to play Revenant and learning a completely new skillset. However, once you become comfortable with Revenant's new abilities, he becomes a formidable opponent in the arena. Follow these suggestions to ensure that Revenant dominates his opponents whenever the opportunity arises.
Don't underestimate the power of Revenant's Shadow Pounce tactical ability. It may not seem like it takes you very far at first, but if you're feeling disappointed with the distance, make sure you hold down the tactical button for a sufficient amount of time to fully charge the leap. After approximately 1.5 seconds of holding the button, you'll see a red flash of light between Revenant's hands and hear a sound, signaling that Shadow Pounce is fully charged. Let go of the tactical button and get ready to soar through the air with great momentum.
Take a cautious approach
Despite its strength, Revenant's Shadow Pounce is lacking a crucial element that other legends with movement abilities such as Ash and Loba rely on for safe navigation: a visual indicator of the landing spot. Unlike Loba's throwable Buglar's Best Friend tactic, Revenant's Shadow Pounce does not provide any visual cue to show where he will land. When using this ability, Revenant will leap forward around 65 meters in the direction he is facing.
In certain maps like Olympus and Broken Moon, there are dangerous gaps that can lead to your demise if you fall into them. Similarly, maps like World's Edge have hazardous features such as lava. Therefore, it is crucial to be cautious and thoroughly survey the surroundings before making any jumps. It's quite common to unintentionally propel Revenant off the edge of the map and find yourself plummeting to your death, especially when you're still getting familiar with the extent of Revenant's Shadow Pounce ability. So, it's advised to proceed with care and be mindful of your movements.
Utilize Revenant's climbing abilities to your advantage in order to escape tough situations. Instead of taking the usual approach of jumping off a building to escape enemies, try more innovative moves like Shadow Pouncing from one roof to another and climbing to safety. Take a closer look at the different points of interest on each map and reconsider your usual escape routes to fully utilize Revenant's speed and agility.
Move over, because Revenant has always been the most skilled climber in the game, with the ability to scale entire buildings on the World's Edge map. However, with his improved passive ability, he can now climb horizontally as well. This means that while he is still climbing upwards, Revenant can also climb diagonally, granting him a greater advantage when it comes to evading enemy attacks.
Unlike other legends, Revenant has a unique horizontal climbing ability that often goes unnoticed by players. It's easy to overlook in the midst of intense battles, but it can be incredibly useful for escaping enemies or catching them off guard. By climbing towers in an upward spiral pattern, Revenant makes it challenging for enemies within range to land shots on him.
Get in close and personal with Revenant's highly effective passive ability that enables him to track enemies who are low on health. However, this ability only works within a 30-meter range. It's important to remember this when engaging with the enemy. You should aim to be close enough to monitor their health, but not too close that you find yourself in the line of fire from their Triple-Take.
Seize every opportunity
Shadow Pounce provides a great way for Revenant to change his position and divert his enemies' attention. If you're strategizing an ambush, a clever tactic to confuse the enemy is to deploy an Evac Tower, swiftly move across the battlefield, and land on the opposite side of the opponents. Then, activate Forged Shadows, take some shots at them while your squad attacks from the opposite direction, and use Shadow Pounce to safely return to your original position if the situation becomes challenging. This planned approach is surprisingly successful, catching most squads off guard. The initial encounter often tricks the opponents into thinking that Revenant is alone without any teammates, making the subsequent ambush highly impactful.
Revenant, despite his individualistic personality, possesses abilities that make him a valuable asset to any team. Previously, his ultimate ability, Death Totem, allowed him to revive fallen teammates without putting himself at risk. Similarly, his new ability, Forged Shadows, reduces the risk involved in reviving squadmates. While it is still important to find a secure location for revival, the 75-point overshield greatly increases the chances of successfully bringing teammates back into the fight without endangering oneself. It is crucial to monitor the health of teammates and position oneself nearby to provide assistance when needed, particularly in the absence of a Lifeline character who can provide healing support.
Take them out
As we discussed earlier, the Forged Shadows ability remains active for 25 seconds or until the Revenant sustains 75 points of damage. However, to fully utilize this ability, it's crucial to knock down your enemies. Each knockdown replenishes the Forged Shadows overshield with 75 hitpoints and also recharges the Shadow Pounce ability. If you're having difficulty reaching another enemy in time to knock them down, remember to utilize Shadow Pounce to quickly get to your target.
Defeating enemies becomes a much simpler task with the help of Forged Shadows. While it's still important to assess the area for any remaining threats, the combination of the useful Forged Shadows overshield and Revenant's default finisher makes finishing off downed enemies easier than ever. Revenant's finisher involves him crouching and temporarily disappearing, making it challenging for opponents to land hits on him. Additionally, performing finishers replenishes Revenant's body shield hitpoints, so it's always advantageous to execute one if it can be done safely. Prioritize eliminating the most dangerous adversaries first, such as finishing off a downed Lifeline before a downed Wattson, as Lifeline has the ability to revive allies remotely while simultaneously engaging in combat.
Stay cautious
While Forged Shadows has its advantages, there is a slight drawback to consider: it makes you highly visible to your enemies. When you activate the big red overshield, it immediately grabs the attention of any nearby squad. To minimize the risk, it's advisable to activate Forged Shadows while in cover and use it strategically during surprise attacks. The element of surprise is crucial for Revenant's survival. However, if you find yourself in a situation where you have to engage the enemy head-on with the overshield in plain sight, make sure you have a squadmate positioned elsewhere providing cover fire and acting as a distraction. Remember, an organized enemy squad focusing their fire can quickly put an end to your Forged Shadows advantage. Even though Revenant no longer needs to search for safe spots for the Death Totem, it's still important to plan ahead when pushing an enemy squad.
Revenant's abilities may take some time to become familiar with, but once you have mastered them, you will effortlessly eliminate enemy squads. Despite his grumpy and distant demeanor, Revenant proves to be a valuable team player when his skills are effectively utilized. With practice and effective communication within your squad, Revenant becomes an indispensable asset, particularly in challenging situations.
