Project Zomboid Build 41-Multiplayer rebuilt

This release is a huge improvement for Project Zomboid, with graphics, gameplay, audio and networking code significantly reworked and overhauled, and Build 41 feels more like a sequel than a patch update. Along with a huge map update, new mechanics and systems, this is our biggest update to date.
Under normal circumstances, we would probably do more polish and fixes before releasing to stable, but the truth is that almost no one is playing Build 40 right now, except for those who don’t know about the beta branch. If anything hurts the first impression of Project Zomboid, it’s there, we’re just waiting for multiplayer to drop in some stable fashion so we can move on as we feel strongly that Build 41 even has remaining bugs and The required questions are eliminated, making a very good first impression on new players.

New multiplayer built from the ground up for smooth, immersive and low latency player and zombie movement. This is what made people mad about this game.

Below are some of the things that will guide you on choosing the best server host for your project zomboid server hosting

What To Look For In Project Zomboid Server Hosting?

Like many other games, Project Zomboid puts demands on both hardware and infrastructure. In order to enjoy a smooth gaming experience on self-hosted Project Zomboid environments, you need to be aware of some financial and technical details.

Running your own Project Zomboid server online means that you’ll need the hardware and bandwidth to support it. Unless you own a data center, that means renting space on a server hosted by a web hosting company like Hostinger.

To ensure that your Project Zomboid hosting runs smoothly, there are some things you need to consider when choosing an Project Zomboid hosting plan, such as;

1. Processor to run the Project Zomboid Server

Almost all web applications will require processing time to run but this is especially true for gaming environments. In actual usage scenarios, the processing time is calculated in clock cycles (hence the presentation as MHz or GHz).

In game hosting, servers are often equipped with multiple, powerful processors. Exactly how much processor time you get is determined by the plans your game host offer. Shared hosting’s processor time is shared among accounts, while VPS or cloud hosting plans offer users exclusive use of certain amounts of resources.

2. Memory used by Project Zomboid Server

RAM is fast, volatile storage that is used to run processes. When a request is made to your server, it loads data into memory for more rapid processing. If you have less memory than is required, then it becomes necessary for servers to swap data in and out of RAM more frequently, resulting in lower performance.

Again, as with processor time, shared hosting works from a large memory pool that is shared between multiple accounts. VPS or cloud plans offer their uses dedicated memory for use. Exactly how much will depend on the host and plan you choose.

3. Storage Type & Space

Project Zomboid isn’t an exceptionally storage-heavy game but if you’re running a Project Zomboid server, having SSD will help speed up performance. Do know the differences that are possible in this area though.

Some web hosts will offer SSD-based server software (such as the operating system and web server software) while storing your data on regular storage. This is different from offering a full SSD solution where everything is stored on SSD.

4. Project Zomboid Server Location

This can be one of the most critical things for your Project Zomboid hosting server. The location where the server is hosted makes a difference. A server that is far away from where the players are will often result in high latency (lag).

If you are hosting players from around the world then there’s not much you can do about this. However, if you are hosting in a more localized context (perhaps for players in a specific country/region) then choose a web host with servers in or near that area. This can go a long way to reducing game lag.

Note

You can use our server speed checker to check if the server you’re using is fast!

5. Size of your Project Zomboid Community or players.

Before you rent a game server you have to consider the number of players that will join the game server. Most game hosting server providers sell game by game slots. more slots will cost you more money. But this is not the case with us. At Xgamingserver we sale dedicated resources for your game server. The video below would clearly explain our pricing model.

So before you get a server hosting for your Project Zomboid consider the number of players who will join the server you. you can check out our Project Zomboid pricing here. With a 2 day free trial.

6. Ability to add mods to your Project Zomboid server

Plain vanilla Project Zomboid can be boring. You would need a server hosting provider that will let you add mods to your server. I explained how you can install Project Zomboid Mods to your server in our previous post.

Not all game servers support mods! If you don’t want to restrict your server to Vanilla Project Zomboid in the future, or you know you want to create a modded Project Zomboid server, then you need to check that your potential server host supports mod installation.

Some server control panels offer a one-click mod install system. If you’re sure you want the freedom of adding mods then this is the easiest option. You will be able to install addons from their built-in mod manager or take advantage of the range of mods available through the Steam Workshop. This generally means less messing around with the control panel and more game time. Some game server hosts support mods but you need to use FTP to install the mods yourself. Other companies offer a drop-down menu with a limited number of the most popular mods, like Starvation, Darkness Falls, and War of the Walkers. The ability to add mods sometimes comes at an extra cost.

7.Ping (latency)

this is the time it takes to transmit a small data set from your computer to the server and back to your computer. Normally measured in milliseconds. The ping time is a very important indicator for online games. Therefore the location of the gaming servers plays a critical role in the fluidity of your gameplay. Lower pings means that your Project Zomboid game will be smooth.

At Xgamingserver we have two server locations United states and in Europe. Those are our major client locations currently but we hope to expand to more locations in the next six months.

8.Platform of Choice playing Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid servers can run on consoles, PC, and Linux. At the moment console server gaming for Project Zomboid is limited so for the best experience we advise using PC gaming. Which supports both multiplayer: Survival (both randomly generated and standard) and Creative modes.

So running Project Zomboid on a PC? Let’s hook you up with server hosting and enjoy multiplayer with your Project Zomboid community

9. Type of Game Control Panel

This is an important factor when it comes to choosing your game server control panel. Most gaming server companies use the TCadmin or multicraft panels which are not customized. At Xgamingserver we’ve based our Project Zomboid game control panel on the Pterodactyl panel.

Which the developers prioritize security, and the control panel includes password hashing, two-factor authentication, and HTTPS as standard. One of the most interesting designs and security decisions made by the developers is Docker support. All game servers run in Docker containers, providing excellent control over resources, improved security, and environments tailored to the needs of each game.

10. DDoS Protection

The online gaming and e-sports sector is one of the main targets of DDoS attacks. As a result, it is essential for hosting platforms to be permanently protected against these frequent, massive threats. So when choosing your game hosting provider for Project Zomboid, It is important to ensure that their servers are protected for DDos attacks. At xgamingserver, all our servers are DDOS protected so you don’t have to worry about that.

11. Price of the Project Zomboid servers

Price is an important factor when selecting a game server. Expensive servers do not necessarily mean good performance. At Xgamingserver we sell game servers according to dedicated resources. You pay what you get.
