A great speedrun seed removes the slow part of an Any% Random Seed Glitchless-style run: the hunt for a nether portal, a village for beds and iron, and a quick route to the End. The seeds below are all built around one idea — get you into the Nether fast, ideally with a village nearby for supplies. Several of them place a ruined portal right at spawn (0 blocks away), which means near-instant lava access and a jump into the Nether almost as soon as you load in.
To be upfront: these are community-reported seeds pulled from public seed databases and listings for the versions noted in each entry, not seeds we have personally run start-to-finish. Minecraft world generation changes between updates and differs between editions, so a seed that is perfect on one version can shift on another. Before you commit a route to memory, test the seed on a throwaway copy of the world first in your exact edition and version to confirm the portal, village and structures actually spawn where the source says. If you want to grind routes together, you can play your favourite seed with friends on a Minecraft server and share the same world.
How to Use a Seed
Entering a seed. On the world-creation screen click Create New World. On Java Edition, open the World tab and paste the seed into the Seed for the World Generator box. On Bedrock Edition, scroll the Create New World settings down to the Seed field and paste it there. Leave the box empty for a random world. Negative seeds must include the minus sign. Purely numeric seeds are used exactly as typed; any seed containing non-numeric text is hashed into a number instead.
Finding your current world’s seed. Open chat/command input and type /seed. It prints the world’s seed so you can copy or share it. This works in both editions, though on Bedrock you need cheats or host privileges enabled. For more command reference, see our Minecraft commands list.

Snowy Plains — Closest Village of the Set
Seed -7022391147313087402 (Java 1.21) is the tightest overworld triangle in this list. The ruined portal sits at spawn, the village is only 71 blocks away — the closest village of the group — and the Trial Chambers are just 128 blocks out. On this seed the portal generates at coordinates -400, -384. Grab beds and any iron from the village, top off the portal, and go.
Old Growth Pine Taiga — Fast Bed & Iron Pickup
Seed 8363883376303312479 (Java 1.21) puts a ruined portal at spawn (coordinates 0, 0) with the village only 80 blocks away. That short hop lets you collect beds, food and iron before entering the Nether without a long detour. Trial Chambers are reported 227 blocks out if you want the extra loot detour.
Forest — ChunkScan Favorite
Seed 8131646228639523493 (Java 1.21) is flagged as a ChunkScan favorite because both the portal and a village land under 100 blocks from spawn. The portal generates at -336, -304, with an ocean ruin 71 blocks away and the village 97 blocks out — a compact loop for supplies and a quick Nether entry.
Plains — Balanced Routing
Two plains seeds give you flat, easy movement. Seed 2643542272131503067 puts the portal at 0, 32 with a village 160 blocks away and Trial Chambers 192 blocks out. Seed -440472133329981616 also spawns the portal at 0, 32, with a tighter layout: village 107 blocks, Trial Chambers 170. Flat plains make these forgiving for practising a consistent route.
Lakeside Village with a Floating Portal
Seed 9034078504 (Java, reported for 1.20 through 1.21.11 by WiseHosting) is a novelty that also happens to be practical: a few blocks from spawn is a lake with a village built on top of it, a ruined nether portal floating on the lake, and a nearby lava fall for filling the portal. Village, portal and lava are all clustered together. Spawn is around X:9, Y:78, Z:24. If you like village-heavy worlds generally, our best Minecraft village seeds guide has more.
Java vs Bedrock Seeds
This matters more for speedrunning than almost anything else: the two editions use different world-generation algorithms, so the same seed code produces different worlds on Java vs Bedrock. Terrain and biomes sometimes look similar, but the positions of villages, ruined portals, bastions, nether fortresses and strongholds generally do not match across editions. Every confirmed seed above is sourced as Java Edition — a Java-verified route is not guaranteed to have the same spawn features on Bedrock.
Speedrun seeds are also highly version-specific. Structure placement, ruined-portal loot and stronghold locations can shift between point releases, so a seed proven on 1.21.x may differ on an earlier or later version. Match the reported version where you can, and always re-verify in your own edition and exact version before committing to a route. If you play Bedrock, start from our best Minecraft Bedrock seeds list instead of assuming these codes carry over.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a good speedrun seed?
Fast Nether access and nearby supplies. A ruined portal at or near spawn saves the time you’d otherwise spend mining obsidian or finding lava, and a close village provides beds (for the dragon fight), food and iron. Every seed in the list above places a ruined portal at spawn except where noted, with a village usually under 200 blocks away.
Do these seeds work on Bedrock Edition?
Not reliably. All confirmed seeds here are Java Edition, and because the two editions generate worlds differently, the structures generally land in different places on Bedrock. You can enter the code on Bedrock, but treat it as a fresh world and verify what actually spawns.
How do I enter a negative seed?
Type it exactly, including the leading minus sign — for example -7022391147313087402. Dropping the minus produces a completely different, positive seed and a different world.
Why does my seed look different from the description?
Almost always a version or edition mismatch. Ruined-portal loot, structure positions and stronghold locations move between releases, so a seed captured on Java 1.21 can shift on a different point release. Match the reported version, and test on a copy of the world before you rely on the route.
