How to Beat Kall Fimbulbringer: Valheim’s Final Boss (Deep North / 1.0)

Kall Fimbulbringer is the final boss of Valheim — added with the Deep North biome in the 1.0 release. Beating it ends the Viking journey that started with Eikthyr and rolls the credits. It’s a long, three-phase fight with a very specific damage profile, so going in with the wrong weapons will get you nowhere. Here’s exactly how the fight works and what to bring, with numbers pulled straight from the 1.0 game data.

Before you go: you need to have beaten Fader

The Deep North sits after the Ashlands in progression. Unlike the Ashlands, it isn’t walled off by a boiling ocean — it gates you by sheer creature difficulty. You’ll want to have defeated Fader (the Ashlands boss) and be geared in Flametal or, ideally, the new Deep North gear before you attempt Kall Fimbulbringer. You reach the boss through the Deep North’s Jotun invasion event — activating the Orb of Fimbulvinter.

Kall Fimbulbringer HP: a three-phase fight

This is one of the longest boss fights in Valheim. Kall Fimbulbringer has three phases with separate health pools:

PhaseHealth
Phase 110,000 HP
Phase 27,000 HP
Phase 330,000 HP
Total~47,000 HP
Kall Fimbulbringer health per phase (Valheim 1.0, from the game data).

For comparison, that’s nearly double Fader’s 25,000 and more than twice The Queen’s 18,000 — so bring plenty of food and stamina meads and be ready for a marathon.

The key to the fight: use BLUNT or SLASH — not elemental

This is the mistake that wrecks most first attempts. Kall Fimbulbringer resists nearly every damage type:

  • Resistant to: pierce, fire, frost, and lightning
  • Immune to: spirit
  • Takes full damage from: blunt and slash only

That means your shiny new Frostfire and Thunderblood weapons — which pile on fire, frost and lightning — are actually a worse choice here, because the elemental portion of their damage is resisted. Your best options are pure physical:

  • Nord Sledge (200 blunt) or Thunderblood Sledge (235 blunt) — blunt lands in full
  • Nord Greatsword / Nord Sword — high slash
  • Nord Mace (170 blunt)

Check the full damage breakdown for every option in our Valheim weapons database — filter to the Deep North tier and sort by blunt/slash.

What to bring

  • Weapon: a high-blunt Sledge or a slash Greatsword (see above)
  • Food: the best 3-food loadout you can cook — use our Valheim food calculator and pick the Tank preset for max HP, plus the new Deep North dishes (Seal Meat Soup, Smoked Moose Meat)
  • Meads: stamina and healing meads — 47,000 HP takes time, and you’ll be swinging heavy weapons constantly
  • Armor: the new Deep North armor sets, or Flametal as a fallback

Beating it: the ending of Valheim

When Kall Fimbulbringer falls it drops Sacrificial Blood. Take it back to the Sacrificial Stones — the very first altar in the Meadows where your journey began — and offer it to complete the game and roll the credits. It’s the intended finale of Valheim’s whole progression arc, complete with new end-game cinematics.

Frequently asked questions

How much health does Kall Fimbulbringer have?

About 47,000 total across three phases — 10,000, then 7,000, then 30,000. It’s the highest-HP boss in Valheim.

What’s Kall Fimbulbringer weak to?

Blunt and slash damage. It resists pierce, fire, frost and lightning and is immune to spirit — so use physical weapons like the Nord Sledge or a greatsword, not elemental crossbows or staves.

What do you get for beating it?

Sacrificial Blood, which you offer at the starting Sacrificial Stones to finish the game. It’s the final boss of the main progression.

Do I need a dedicated server for the fight?
