txAdmin is the easiest way to run a FiveM server — a web-based control panel that handles installation, configuration, player management, and live console from your browser. This guide walks through setting up a FiveM server with txAdmin from start to first join.
What you need first
Before anything else you need a Cfx.re license key (also called a server key). It’s free — generate one from the Cfx.re keymaster portal tied to your forum account. Without a valid key the server won’t start. See our license key guide for the exact steps.
Step 1: Launch txAdmin
The FXServer build ships with txAdmin built in. When you start the server for the first time it prints a local URL with a one-time PIN — open it in your browser to reach the txAdmin setup wizard. On managed hosting, txAdmin is already running; just open its panel. Our txAdmin guide covers accessing it on an XGamingServer host.
Step 2: Run the setup wizard
The wizard walks you through creating an admin account, entering your Cfx.re license key, and choosing a data folder. You can then deploy a recipe — a one-click base server like the CFX default or a popular framework (ESX, QBCore) — or point txAdmin at an existing server folder.
Step 3: Configure and start
txAdmin generates and manages your server.cfg. From the panel you can set the server name, max players, tags, and which resources start. Hit Start and watch the live console for a clean boot. For the full breakdown of every server.cfg line, see our server.cfg guide and the free server.cfg generator.
Step 4: Connect and manage
Once it’s running, players connect via the in-game server browser or a direct connect command. From txAdmin you can kick, ban, warn, and DM players, schedule automatic restarts, watch performance, and read the live console — all from the browser. Add your team as admins following our adding admins guide.
Why managed hosting helps
Self-hosting means port forwarding, keeping FXServer updated, and babysitting uptime. XGamingServer FiveM hosting ships with txAdmin pre-installed, instant setup, and the hardware headroom a busy RP server needs — so you spend your time on resources, not infrastructure.
FAQ
Is txAdmin free? Yes — it’s bundled with FXServer at no cost.
Do I really need a license key? Yes. The free Cfx.re key is mandatory; the server won’t start without it.
Can I install ESX or QBCore from txAdmin? Yes — the setup wizard can deploy framework recipes in a few clicks.
