VEIN Automatic Backups
Learn how our VEIN automatic backups work and how to restore them.
XGamingServer automatically takes a backup snapshot of your VEIN save files every hour while the server is running. If a failed update, bug, or accidental mishap damages your world, you can restore to a previous point in time and get back to playing quickly.
Backup files are stored in the Backups folder in your server's home directory and are named with timestamps so you can identify exactly when each snapshot was taken.
Restoring an Automatic Backup
Stop Your Server
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and Stop your VEIN server.
Download the Backup
In the sidebar, go to Files and open the Backups folder in your server's home directory. Download a copy of the backup you want to restore.
Upload the Backup
Using SFTP or the file uploader, upload your backup file to Vein/Saved/SaveGames.
Replace the Active Save
Delete the existing Server.vns file in Vein/Saved/SaveGames, then rename your restored backup to Server.vns.
⚠️ Warning: The save file must be named exactly
Server.vnsfor the server to load it. Double-check the filename after renaming.
Start Your Server
Start your server. It will now load from the restored backup.
💡 Tip: Before restoring a backup, consider downloading your current
Server.vnsfile as well, so you have the option to revert if needed.
