How to Change the Version of Your VEIN Server

Learn how to change the version of your VEIN dedicated server using Steam beta branches. Roll back to a previous version or switch to experimental builds.

You can change your VEIN server version using Steam beta branches. This is useful if you want to roll back to a previous version after a problematic update or test an experimental build before it goes live.

⚠️ Warning: Changing server versions may cause issues with your world save. Always take a backup first, as configuration files will reset after switching versions.

Changing Your VEIN Server Version

Open the Startup Page

Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and select your VEIN server. In the sidebar, go to Startup.

Set the Beta Branch

Under Advanced, find Steam Beta Branch and enter the branch name you want to use.

Leave the field empty or set it to public for the latest stable version. You can view the full list of available VEIN beta branches on SteamDB.

Reinstall the Server

In the sidebar, go to Dashboard and click Reinstall Server. Wait for the installation to complete.

📝 Note: Set Automatic Updates to disabled if you are using a branch that does not receive regular updates, otherwise the server may attempt to update and revert your version choice.
