Your gear score in V Rising is the sum of four armor slots — chest, legs, boots, gloves — plus your weapon and your equipped magic jewels. Every V-Blood has a recommended gear score; being under-geared costs you potions and run time, and being over-geared wastes your bloodpool on content you've outscaled. This planner lets you pick the exact six pieces you'd wear and shows total gear score, stacked stats, and which set bonuses are active.
Filter by playstyle — physical builds stack Physical Power and benefit from Merciless and bandit-tier sets; magic builds prioritize Spell Power and the caster armor tiers; tank builds lean into resistances and max health from iron/silver gear; utility builds mix gathering-speed and movement-speed pieces for farming or raiding setups. Filter by set name to see every piece in a tier, or search by the V-Blood that drops the recipe (great when you've just killed a boss and want to see what it unlocked).

Click "Add to loadout" to build a mixed kit across sets — V Rising allows mixed armor so you can get a 3-piece physical set bonus AND 3-piece utility pieces for gathering, for example. How is V Rising gear score calculated?
Gear score is the sum of all six armor slots (head, chest, gloves, legs, boots, cloak) plus your equipped weapon and your magic jewels. Every V-Blood has a recommended gear score — roughly matching it means the fight is fair; being ~10 under means the boss takes far longer to kill.
Can I mix armor sets in V Rising?
Yes. V Rising allows fully mixed armor — you can wear 3 pieces of one set for its 3-piece bonus, and 3 pieces of another set for a second bonus, or spread across many sets for stat optimization without any bonuses. The Loadout Planner shows which set bonuses activate based on the mix you pick.
What's the best V Rising armor set?
Depends on playstyle. Physical DPS builds stack Merciless Iron or Sanguine sets for the damage bonuses. Magic builds prefer caster armor tiers that grant Spell Power. Tank/survival builds mix in iron/silver pieces for max health and resistances. End-game Sanguine is strongest overall but mixed-set builds can outperform in specific scenarios.
Does armor tier gate V-Blood fights?
Yes — V Rising is a progression game. Under-geared players take far more damage and deal far less. Being 10 gear score below the V-Blood's recommended level means you need to kite for much longer and burn more potions. Match or slightly exceed recommended level for clean fights.
Where do armor recipes drop?
Most mid/late-tier recipes drop from specific V-Bloods. The gear planner shows the drop source for each piece — click the purple boss link to jump straight to that V-Blood in the Boss Tracker. Early-tier recipes (Hollowfang, Nightstalker) are usually learned automatically from quest progression.
