V Rising has 14 weapon archetypes — 11 melee (Sword, Greatsword, Axe, Mace, Spear, Reaper, Slasher, Whip, and the three Oakveil DLC additions Twinblade, Daggers, Claws) and 3 ranged (Crossbow, Longbow, Pistol). Each tier adds a different skill kit — Copper unlocks the first real abilities, Dark Silver gets boss-killing nukes, Sanguine is endgame.
Tier progression: Bone (GL 3) → Reinforced Bone (GL 6) → Copper (GL 9) → Merciless Copper (GL 12) → Iron (GL 15) → Merciless Iron (GL 18) → Dark Silver (GL 23) → Sanguine (GL 26). Match your weapon tier to the V-Blood you're hunting — being under-geared wastes potions and runs the fight long.

At endgame (Sanguine tier, GL 26) it depends on role. Sanguine Reaper for blood-essence farming (AoE). Sanguine Sword for boss DPS (Shadowbolt pierce). Sanguine Pistol for ranged kiting. Can I skip to Dark Silver without Iron tier?
Technically yes — you can craft Dark Silver weapons if you have Silver ore + Scourgestone recipes unlocked. But you'll lack the intermediate weapon skills that Iron/Merciless Iron grant, and the jump in crafting material cost is brutal. Most players progress linearly through Copper → Iron → Dark Silver → Sanguine.
How do weapon skills unlock?
Each weapon tier adds one new skill slot. Bone has just Slash Combo (basic attack). Copper unlocks the primary skill. Iron adds the heavy shift-skill. Dark Silver unlocks the ultimate. Sanguine weapons have all 4 slots filled with peak-tier versions. V-Bloods drop specific skill variants that can swap in — the boss tracker lists which V-Blood drops what.
