With Palworld 1.0 launching July 10, 2026, every dedicated server will need to update. This guide covers the safe way to update a Palworld server to a new version — back up, update, verify — so your world survives the jump.
Before you update: back up your save
Always back up before a major version change. Your world data lives in the save folder (the SaveGames directory containing your world’s GUID folder, plus PalWorldSettings.ini). Copy it somewhere safe so you can roll back if anything goes wrong.
The update steps
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1. Stop the server | Shut it down cleanly so the save is written fully |
| 2. Back up | Copy your save folder + PalWorldSettings.ini |
| 3. Update files | Re-run SteamCMD to pull the latest build (app 2394010 for the dedicated server) |
| 4. Start & verify | Boot the server, confirm the version and that your world loads |
Updating via SteamCMD (self-hosted)
If you self-host, update the dedicated server with SteamCMD:
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 2394010 validate +quit
Then restart the server. The validate flag repairs any missing or corrupted files — useful on a big version jump like 1.0.
The easy way
On XGamingServer Palworld hosting, updating is a single click in the panel — automatic SteamCMD, automated backups and one-click rollback, so you’ll be on 1.0 within minutes of launch with no risk to your world. See our Palworld setup guides for details.
