DayZ is on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, so a common question is whether you can squad up across platforms. The honest answer is: it’s complicated. This guide covers DayZ crossplay in 2026.
Is DayZ crossplay?
Partially. The situation as of 2026:
- Xbox & Microsoft Store PC — since Update 1.29 (2026), these share servers via Microsoft Play Anywhere. So Xbox players and PC players on the Microsoft Store version can play together.
- Steam PC — stays on its own server pool, separate from console and the Microsoft Store version.
- PlayStation 5 — no crossplay with Xbox or PC at all.
So there’s no single “everyone together” — only the Xbox + Microsoft-Store-PC pairing.
What this means for servers
The big thing for anyone wanting their own server: the entire modded community-server ecosystem — custom maps, traders, Expansion, custom loot — lives on the PC (Steam) version. Console private servers are handled separately through Bohemia’s official console partner and can’t be modded the same way.
Hosting your own DayZ server
Our DayZ server hosting is for the PC (Steam) version — where you get full mod support, custom maps, traders and complete control over your loot and rules (see how to make a DayZ server). If you and your friends are on Steam, that’s where the real custom DayZ experience is.
Frequently asked questions
Is DayZ crossplay between PC and console?

Can PS5 players play DayZ with PC or Xbox?

Which DayZ version supports mods and custom servers?
The PC (Steam) version — that’s where the full modding and community-server ecosystem (and our hosting) lives.
