How To Change The Version Of Your V Rising Server
Learn how to change the version of your V Rising dedicated server.
If you want to run an older release of V Rising rather than the latest public version, you can switch your server to a different Steam beta branch. This is useful for playing legacy worlds or waiting for mod compatibility before updating.
📝 Note: This is required to play worlds from 1.0 and prior versions on a V Rising server. Players must direct connect by IP to join servers running outdated versions.
Changing Steam Beta Version
Stop your server
Access the XGamingServer Panel and stop your server.
Set the beta branch
In the sidebar, click Startup and edit the Steam Beta Branch field to the branch you want.
Reinstall the server
On the Dashboard, scroll down to the Reinstall Server widget and click Reinstall Server. Wait for the installation to finish.
⚠️ Warning: Reinstalling will replace your server files with the selected version. Make sure to back up your save data before switching branches.
You can find the currently available beta branches on the V Rising SteamDB page.
