How To Optimize Your V Rising Server Performance

Learn how to optimize your V Rising dedicated server to increase server FPS and keep it running smoothly.

This guide covers the most effective ways to improve your V Rising server's performance and stability. Following these best practices can lead to noticeable FPS improvements, especially on servers with high player counts or heavy mod usage.

Daily Restarts

The single most impactful thing you can do is set up an automatic daily restart schedule. Over time, V Rising servers accumulate memory usage and other overhead that a fresh restart clears out. This is especially important for heavily modded servers.

To create an automatic restart schedule, go to Schedules in the sidebar of the XGamingServer Panel and set up a daily power action.

💡 Tip: Schedule restarts during off-peak hours (for example, early morning) to minimize disruption to your players.

Optimize Configuration

Several V Rising server settings have a direct impact on performance. If you are experiencing FPS drops or lag, adjusting these values can help. Most are found on the Startup page, while some require custom settings via ServerGameSettings.json.

Settings on the Startup Page

SettingDefaultDescription
Max Connected Users40Lower values reduce load. If you run a large community server, capping this below your plan maximum can help stability.
Server FPS30Controls the server tick rate. 60 is recommended for PvP servers. Going higher than 60 may cause worse performance rather than better. The minimum recommended value is 30.
Auto Save Interval120Higher values reduce save-related lag spikes. On modded servers, auto-saves can cause brief stutters, so increasing this interval helps.

Settings Requiring Custom ServerGameSettings.json

SettingDefaultDescription
FloorLimitVariesLower values improve performance. Do not set this higher than 800, as it will have negative effects. Adjust this if your server has many castles and high player counts.
ServantLimitVariesLower values reduce entity load. Defines the maximum number of servants within a castle.
HeightLimitVariesLower values improve performance. Defines the maximum build height for a castle.

For details on editing ServerGameSettings.json, see our Configure Your Server guide.

📝 Note: Heavy building, high player counts, and extensive mod usage will eventually reach hardware limitations regardless of settings. Even the fastest hardware cannot fully overcome the load created by very large or heavily modded servers. These settings help you get the best performance possible within those limits.
