How To Configure Your V Rising Server
Learn how to configure your V Rising dedicated server using game presets or ServerGameSettings.json.
V Rising gives you two ways to configure your server: quick game presets for standard modes, or a custom ServerGameSettings.json file for full control over every gameplay parameter. This guide covers both methods.
Using Game Presets
Game presets are pre-configured bundles of settings that let you get a specific game mode up and running quickly.
Open the Startup page
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and select your V Rising server. In the sidebar, click Startup.
Select a preset
Find the Game Setting Preset option and change it to your desired mode (for example, Standard PvP, Standard PvE, or Brutal).
Restart your server
Go back to the Dashboard and restart your server for the preset to take effect.
Using ServerGameSettings.json
For full control over individual settings like damage multipliers, resource rates, and castle limits, you can edit the ServerGameSettings.json file directly.
⚠️ Warning: You must set both Game Setting Preset and Game Difficulty Preset to blank/Unknown on the Startup page before using custom settings. If a preset is selected, the JSON file will be ignored.
Clear the presets
Access the XGamingServer Panel and select your V Rising server. In the sidebar, click Startup and set both Game Settings Preset and Game Difficulty Preset to blank/Unknown.
Open the settings file
In the sidebar, click Files and navigate to /save-data/Settings/ServerGameSettings.json.
Edit your settings
Make the changes you want in the JSON editor, then save the file.
Restart your server
Go back to the Dashboard and restart your server.
💡 Tip: Stunlock Studios publishes official documentation that explains every setting in
ServerGameSettings.json. Check the V Rising community resources or the official Discord for the latest settings reference.
