Making Your Vintage Story Server Public

Learn how to make your Vintage Story server visible in the public server list by enabling server advertising and disabling whitelist mode.

By default, Vintage Story servers (version 1.20+) are private and invite-only. If you want other players to find and join your server through the public server list, you need to enable server advertising.

Making Your Server Public

Open the Server Console

Enable Server Advertising

Type /serverconfig advertise on and press Enter to make your server visible in the public server list.

Disable Whitelist Mode

Type /serverconfig whitelistmode off and press Enter to allow anyone to join.

Restart Your Server

Restart your server to apply the changes.

💡 Tip: Even with advertising enabled, it may take a few minutes for your server to appear in the public server list.

Remember that making your server public means anyone can join. If you want to control who can access your server, consider keeping whitelist mode enabled and manually adding trusted players.
