WARDOGS throws a lot at new players at once — 100 players, three teams, a live economy, control zones, vehicles and a map that literally falls apart around you. The good news: most beginner deaths and bad matches come down to a handful of fixable mistakes. Here are the tips that’ll get you winning fights and earning faster, plus the common traps to avoid — all drawn from how the game’s systems actually work.

Tip 1: Play the objective — it pays more than kills
The number one beginner mistake is treating WARDOGS like a deathmatch. It isn’t. The game’s reward system pays you for entering, contesting and owning control zones — and even more for hotzones and magnet zones — far more reliably than for chasing frags across the map. Tip 2: Don’t overspend on your gun
You get $10,000 a match but re-buy every life, so a $6,500 rifle you lose on your first death is a terrible trade. Start cheap: the T-21 at $600 is a full-auto assault rifle that wins fights for a fraction of the price, leaving you money for armour, mags and utility. Spend up only once you’re stacking cash. Tip 3: Always upgrade your magazine
The cheapest, highest-impact purchase in the game. A bigger mag — like a 60-round AK74 magazine for $150 — means you win the fights where you’re up against two or three opponents and would otherwise be caught reloading. It’s almost free; never skip it. More on this in our attachments guide.
Tip 4: Never leave without a sidearm
When your primary runs dry mid-fight, the reload will get you killed. A pistol — even the $200 GGX 17 — is your instant out. The $800 GGX 18 fires a ridiculous 1,200 RPM if you want a genuine second primary for close range.
Tip 5: Match your loadout to the map
Bakurani and Ozeti have long, open zones that reward range; Zestafona’s warehouse core is a close-quarters brawl. Bringing a sniper into the warehouses — or a shotgun onto the Sunflower fields — is a fight you’ve lost before it starts. Check the best weapons by class for the right tool.
Tip 6: Use the high ground and the towers
Every map has numbered sniper towers and elevated zones (Green Mountain on Bakurani, Hillside Church on Ozeti, the Offices and Water Towers on Zestafona). They command sightlines over multiple sectors. Take them for the angle — and never wander underneath one you haven’t cleared.
Tip 7: Play support if you’re struggling
Not getting kills? You can still climb the scoreboard. WARDOGS explicitly rewards reviving, healing, repairing and refuelling, plus driving teammates to objectives. Tip 8: Respect the destruction
The cover you’re crouched behind is not permanent. WARDOGS’ maps are fully destructible, so a wall can be blown out from under you and a building can come down. Keep moving, don’t get complacent behind a single piece of cover, and use destruction offensively to open up an entrenched enemy.
